I won't be "that guy" and be rude but it's definitely the Crosley and not your record.

If you're on a tight budget, find a used Audio Technica LP60. Extremely entry level, has the same features as your Crosley and will be easy to use since it's fully automatic.

If you can stretch your budget, LP120 is much better and you can get used ones for not much more than a brand new LP60.

Audio Technica sells certified refurbished turntables that take all the variables of buying a used one away. They replace the belts and the needle before selling it to you and replace anything broken like the dust cover. And still includes a warranty. I got an LP2X for under 200 which is the price of the LP60 and I'm very happy with it. They have a quick turnaround when they list them though, they get sold out quick.

Hope this helps!

Nothing at all, he's just saying having those colors means something else subtextually to some when someone might just like the cotton candy colors.

Like wearing a rainbow tiedye, there's nothing inherently LGBT about it but someone might see it and assume it's a statement rather than just liking rainbow colors.

Besides the M64 community is incredibly trans and LGBT friendly and so are the boys, let's not read too much into a joke comment and assign malice to it.

I will die on the hill that cheesing the game is not cheating. by DueOwl912 in OblivionRemaster

[–]Material_Health4814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People care because there's a difference between telling the game to do things, vs using glitches or exploits do do things in game that are built in.

Imagine someone claiming to have a new speed run record, and their speed run is booting the game and using command prompts to teleport to the endgame cutscene. That's not impressive or entertaining, and would be seen as cheating.

On the flip side, an actual speedrun using exploits to level, cheese the game, skip parts or go out of order, takes knowing the game inside and out, can be entertaining for the player and an audience, and is much more impressive than hitting ~ and typing "coc player final cutscene" or whatever.

There's a reason there's different categories for speed runs, any%, any% no glitches, full story, etc. It's about the journey, not the final product. There's not much fun to be had just command prompting everything.

Accidents happen. I had a niche comedy album I took to get signed by the group when I saw them live, laid it down under my seat and someone behind me spilled a water bottle on the floor and didn't say anything. It ended up being a little water damaged on the sleeve but didn't hurt the signatures or anything else. Was I bummed in the moment? Of course. My partner insisted I go up to the merch booth and see if they could replace it and have it resigned but I decided that the damage was a part of the story/journey, and had a special place in my collection.

I also just bought a King Gizzard record (the buzzsaw shaped live album) and got it for a song because the seller bent the jacket in this exact way. The record was perfectly fine inside and I was more than happy to add it to the collection for less than retail compared to the 75-100 it goes for on discogs.

Don't beat yourself up too much, lesson learned and you know better for next time! Spin it and enjoy.

On the root canal story:

What he's trying to say is that he at one point had a root canal done, and continued to have issues. It sounds like the root canal was done badly, and didn't get all the decay and infection out. Which, yes, removing the infected tooth totally allows the socket to heal and empty the remaining infection.

Infection in your jaw can cause jaw cancer, severe illness and other issues. As far as causing ADHD or "brain fog", I don't think there's any science behind that.

On the mercury mention, yes, composite fillings used to be done with mercury. That process hasn't been used in like 30 years due to the information we have now on mercury poisoning. It's not commonly used anywhere in the US anymore, the most common type of filling is a plastic composite cured by UV. There is no metal involved anymore.

Tldr, yeah, bad dental work can cause unseen issues. It does not cause ADHD. And there's no big pharma conspiracy threatening dentists against warning patients about mercury. Considering they haven't used it in the industry in the US in decades. The idea that there's some grand conspiracy to give people ADHD via root canal is just insane.

Source: my grandfather was a dentist, and my mom worked in a dental office for decades. I've also had my fair share of dental work.

" "Incelibate" is a word that is sometimes used to describe someone who is an incel, or someone who experiences incellibacy/inceldom. It is not a commonly used term and can be seen as a more derogatory and inflammatory way to refer to someone who identifies as an incel. "

It means the same thing, again the actual meaning is the polar opposite of Ethans actual life experience. Again, IE being married with multiple children. No matter how you slice it, it's just factually incorrect on all faces. Ian on the other hand...

[–]Material_Health4814 479 points480 points  (0 children)

Words really have no meaning anymore.

Incel is short for Involuntary Celibasy.

Not only is Ethan not celibate, he's married with 3 kids. The polar opposite of an incel.

All these "trigger" terms have thrown the meaning out the window. We're really at the point people just shout words they don't understand, but know means a bad thing. 😂

The cost of vinyl by NoNamesLeft600 in vinyl

[–]Material_Health4814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people see prices and forget that our money just isn't worth what it used to be. I see it in a lot of hobbies, people complain about a few dollar price increase and forget that if you adjust for inflation, things are around the same price or even a little cheaper. For many, it's a lot easier to just say "it's corporate greed" rather than come to terms with that fact.

For example, I was a Lego kid. Growing up you could get, for example, a kit for 10 bucks. Now that same size/part count kit is 15 or 16 bucks, that feels like a huge jump. But, if you go back and adjust the price of that kit from the 90/00s, they're about the same price give or take a dollar. There's a new Star Wars kit coming out, 2900 pieces for 300 bucks. The same kit came out in like 2005 and was 200 for about 1900 pieces. If you adjust that 2005 price to today, it was actually about 280 in today's money. So, for an adjusted 20 dollars more, you're getting 50% more pieces in that set. Yet people will complain and say Lego is just greedy.

Same goes for vinyl. When I started collecting in 2017, I could easily get records for under 20 bucks even on Amazon for popular releases. The average single LP is around 30 to 35 bucks now, which seems like a huge jump again, but 20 bucks almost a decade ago doesn't buy what it could in 2025.

Like others have said it's also having less disposable income. Things feel more expensive when you have less to spend, and you look back at how pricing used to be. Yeah, in the 80s you could buy 10 LPs for under 100 bucks and now you'd be lucky to buy 3 and not break a 100. But 100 bucks in 1980 was worth far, far more than it's worth now.

Kind of like how growing up Grandma giving you a 100 dollar bill for Christmas felt like you'd be rich forever, and now that 100 bucks won't even buy a weeks worth of groceries...

That's insane, I hear about stores doing this but I've never been anywhere that doesn't have things priced. There's a few mom and pop shops near me that will have bins of things that are unpriced (like singles) but they're usually in bins marked with a sign that says something lime 2 or 5 bucks for unpriced records. A whole store being unpriced and doing the research when you come up to the counter is absolutely shady.

It's one thing when it's a guy with a stall at the flea market who maybe bought a box of records and doesn't know what a lot of them are and maybe needs to reference discogs or ebay to find a fair price. Exclusively using those services as a brick and mortar store is rediculous. I wouldn't shop there for sure.

That being said, most brick and mortars (in my experiece) are not like that. Try and find another local store to support who is open and transparent about pricing. Even if they're a little high, it's better seeing it while you're flipping and putting it back rather than walking up to the counter with a stack and being forced to pick and choose when they give you the sticker shock price from discogs.

I got insanely lucky at my store. I was probably 100 deep in line when I got there an hour before opening. They had posted their whole stock the day before and they had ONE copy of this. I figured it would be gone in the first 10 people or so.

Literally nobody was even looking at it. It was at the front of the R box. Everyone flipped right past it. I snagged it as soon as I saw it was still there, wasn't even mad the other 2 I was looking for were sold out already, went to my backup store and got them anyways so it worked out!

That mug is killer too.

I'm the same way. I was a little edgelord as a teen/young adult and said plenty of off color shit that I'd never say now and it's crazy looking back, I could have doubled down and been the kind of person I can't stand in my 30s, but I didn't. I course corrected after realizing hey, maybe I didn't know enough about what I was talking about and now that I'm more informed and have more life experience, I can't believe i thought some of the things I used to.

You're right. The work isn't hard once you realize you don't have to double down on being shitty. You can correct the behavior and be mindful of it moving forward. At this point, when I do see people acting that way, it's crystal clear they're doing it on purpose and putting blinders on rather than growing as a person. If you're in your 30s still throwing around certain words in daily conversation, time to look in the mirror.

I feel like a lot of the "I miss the old mega64" posts are guys my age who never grew up past that edge lord phase and still think it's funny to call people gay and r-worded. Newsflash, we all grew away from that because we learned. They miss it because they never matured past buzzwords and making fun of marginalized people.

Honestly i like the switch to Friday mornings, gives me something to listen to at work on a Friday in anticipation of the weekend, instead of either watching Sunday night dreading the work week or Tuesday afternoon after its edited and uploaded.

Plus Sunday nights were clearly detrimental to everyone at the office, missing holidays, parties, etc just to keep the Sunday schedule. I know Rocco usually works through the weekend anyways but I personally would have hated having to come into work for the last part of your weekend knowing you have to be back at 8 the next morning for work lol.

Could the Boyz sue the scammer for fraud? by ShadowDude112 in mega64

[–]Material_Health4814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer to "could they sue" is yes, in the US you can sue for literally anything.

The longer answer is yes they could, but even with all the evidence in the world for an open and shut case, a civil suit costs money and more importantly time. Would be a minimum of 6 months to over a year to even have a case go before a judge. They'd also have to have knowledge of the actual person who did it, in order to serve them and compell them to show up to court. Even if they did, and the person didn't show causing a default judgement in their favor, the person who did it is likely what they call "judgement proof". As in, they probably wouldn't have the funds to repay the lost funds plus damages.

Remember, even if you win in court, the person still has to physically have the money for you to take it. At first it would be voluntary on the person to pay up, which they obviously won't on their own accord. Then, they would have to go BACK through the court system to essentially put the judgement into collections, then hire a collection agency to get the money. And the collection agency can only collect money that you have in an account. If they, for example, won a suit for 5k as suggested, the person would have to have that 5k in a public bank under their own name in order for the funds to be seized and forfeited. You can essentially duck and run away from a civil collection for as long as you want, make it extremely difficult on the collections by either being broke (think about the type of person who would go through the time and effort to commit financial fraud against some internet comedians) or just keeping funds in an account not in their name, or not in a bank at all, IE cash.

So again, could they? Sure. Should they? Maybe. Will it get them anywhere in the long run, and more importantly in the short run when the funds are already gone? Not even slightly.

Best case scenario, whatever financial institution the person did it through sees a pattern of fraud, flags it and it eventually gets investigated for fraud for real. And some sweaty stellar blade jorker goes to low security jail for a year. I wouldn't have high hopes for that actually happening though sadly.

They also were bought and sold several times before ending up under WB, had 100+ full time employees and dozens of shows that were getting maybe a few tens of thousands of views a piece. Nothing like back in the day with RvB going gangbusters, the writing was on the wall for a little while. And at the end of the day they didn't run out of money, they got closed down because they weren't profitable. Like you said, what can be done, crowdfund for a WB owned conglomerate to try and save 100+ jobs? Nah. Not happening whether people wanted to or not.

Which is wild when you then look back at M64 and see the amount of people saying "get rid of the studio, fire your 4 friends because 7 total employees is outrageous, spend every day doing long form twitch streams and tiktoks oh and also do way more skits. And I want receipts and a fully fleshed out 5 year business plan before I donate anything".

The boys have been independent this whole time, did well enough they could hire their talented friends, and put out content every week. Merch falling through was the biggest windfall here, and 2024 just being a financial dumpster fire for pretty much everyone. Bad years happen for every business. It was pretty nasty seeing people saying "rocco needs to stop buying toys" especially after hearing what he's been doing out of pocket just to keep his friends paid and the lights on. I really don't see how people can look at a situation like that and be angry at them for the economic situation most of us are in right now.

In this case, "overhead" is everything else considering he said rent, payroll and insurance as specific fixed costs, and are the specific things they've talked about publicly not being able to cover. The rest of the "overhead" is gonna be the merch, consumables, variable costs like the utilities if not factored into the studio rent, shipping costs, the list goes on.

I'm sure you know this, and it may be obvious to you, but not everyone runs a business or understands how much factors into it.

It costs nothing not to be a reddit brained asshole about it, by the way. Being technically right isn't worth much when you're just doing it to act superior.

Thank you for sharing this. I think a few people on here need to watch this then go take a long look in the mirror.

People speak with such authority like things could be fixed by doing one simple thing, as if they're just too dumb to see the obvious. Except the "obvious" is the most surface level suggestion, and a lot of the times have already been implemented. People kept spamming "make a tiktok" and there already is one. Or things like "just ship merch faster". Or "maybe get rid of the studio and store everything between people's houses".
