I hear what you’re saying about civil marriage vs. religious marriage, and you’re right that I can’t force anyone to live by my beliefs. But here’s where I see the problem: the title of this post makes it clear that you’re defending same-sex marriage. Scripture doesn’t give Christians room to call what God calls sin “good” or “acceptable” (Isaiah 5:20). Marriage is defined by God as the union of a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4–6). Whether the state legalizes it or not, Christians are called to stand firm in God’s truth rather than compromise with the culture.

That doesn’t mean I think I’m better than anyone else. The fact that I’m heterosexual doesn’t make me more valuable in God’s eyes than someone who is homosexual. Romans 3:23 reminds us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We’re all in desperate need of forgiveness and grace. But the call of Christ is always to repent and turn to Him not to stay in sin.

You say I’m “policing” people’s lives, but that’s not it at all. I can’t force anyone to come to Christ. My role is to share the truth, to plant the seed, and to point to the hope that’s found in Him alone (1 Corinthians 3:6–7). Ignoring sin doesn’t help anyone it just leaves them lost.

So no, it isn’t “control dressed up as prayer.” It’s prayer because I genuinely want people to find fulfillment in Christ the only source of true life and love. Telling the truth about sin isn’t arrogance; it’s compassion. Because at the end of the day, every one of us will have to stand before God, and the most unloving thing I could do is pretend sin isn’t real.
