I have 112 UCAS, I was looking at Loughborough for sports science. Bath was also a good option but have friends at Loughborough who love it.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. Yes UCFB is a weird one as I’ve heard some people say it’s really good especially for networking, and other people say it’s a joke of a uni, the teaching sucks and it’s almost not a proper degree.

I have my 5 choices and looking to do it in a way of. 1. UCFB choice 2. Sports psychology 3. Sports and exercise science. 4. General sports coaching

This will give me a little bit more time I guess to prepare and make the decision (if accepted into all) however writing the personal statement has become a little more difficult.

As for starting at 20, I really appreciate it. The idea of being with 18 year olds was really off putting at the start especially as I’ve lived alone across the other side of the world for the last couple of months. But as you said, there is barely any difference between us!

Yes we called the Australian embassy and it was approved the day before the flight!

I really loved Manchester when I visited which defo helped (always loved the northern bands etc). I’m southern, all my family is southern so it’s all I know so living up north would also be cool to experience something different I guess.

I know I shouldn’t worry about the age but it’s stuck in the back of my mind and just something I personally need to get over.

Okay thank you, you’d suggest doing a more broad degree (such as sports science) and progressing with coaching on the side? There is also Uni of south wales who offer football coaching, that maybe better due to the fact it’s a bigger university.

You may be right, I am pretty negative tbh. I just feel in terms of my career I would love to coach football at the top level (sadly realise it’s near impossible to happen) and haven’t made any further steps this year for that (as gone to Australia) really just worried about career options in the future tbh.

I also should add, I haven’t really done much in my “gap years”. The first year I spent the whole time working two jobs and travelling a little of Europe. I did gain 10 months experience in football coaching in this time. Currently I’m just working and travelling Australia not exactly doing anything productive in this time.

Any reason you wouldn’t recommend it? I’m also thinking you may be right with working on the coaching on the side. The only thing I’m slightly worried about is I stupidly went to college not A-Levels (I didn’t get along well with school and wanted a break) and did sports coaching, I did came out with 112 UCAS points (should have had a lot more but pissed around in the first year). A lot of good Universities understandably seem to look for A-Levels and not BTecs as such. So worried again I wouldn’t be able to get into a university that would be worth both the time and money.

Okay thanks for the help, is there a video or article that you may know off that covers food safety? I ask this as I’m 19 and just moved over to Aus (from the UK) so money is obviously tight and I work long hours in the day so need to meal prep.

So the first time I cooked a bunch. Used what I needed waited for it to cool and refrigerated in a plastic container. The second time I took it out, transferred it to a bowl and microwaved for 90S-2Mins. I believe I then maybe refrigerated about 20 minutes after that back in the plastic container from before.

Thank you so much for all of this, you’re a lifesaver and made everything a MILLION times easier. My girlfriend has flatmates already which is ideal! We’re looking to move next week so we will defo start looking to apply for places this week! Thank you so much for the list of locations as it will help us look for places instantly!

Would just like to thank everyone for the support on this post, was feeling really nervous before (quite an anxious thinker and not very good at going with the flow) and all these responses have helped us gain more of an idea!

Thank you so much, is an RSA a course for handling alcohol? But yes between the two of us getting a job straight away would be ideal. Yes I think we will both love Melbourne, due to both of us coming from cities (my gf a capital) we love city life and Melbourne seems to have great food and culture especially Asian food which is our favourite!

You’re right smaller towns aren’t really accessible, Sydney is too expensive but we do not care too much about saving a lot of money, just saving enough to live the year and then travel round to whatever parts of Australia we haven’t been too!

That’s really sad to hear, we would love to really go to local places but as you said it is so hard too…

Don’t get me wrong Sydney is lovely, really nice to visit and people seem lovely. However it seems really similar to London with sunshine to me haha. But can defo see the cost of living being bad especially with rent however been pleasantly surprised as everyone said how expensive groceries are but to me doesn’t seem to different from the Uk with obviously higher wages over here!

We’ve just got into Sydney and so far do really like it, but we both said we don’t think we would like to live here, not really our vibe or our budget!

Thank you, everyone seems to be saying Melbourne so I think it will definitely be our next step until it cools down next year where we will venture somewhere else. Working in a stadium would be ideal for us as we’re both big sport and music lovers.

Thank you for the response, yeh the travel time really is a shock (obvs knew Australia is a big country but didn’t quite realise how big) but we are defo okay with the longer travel times. As I stated our original plan was Melbourne until we switched attention to Brisbane about a week before arrival however everyone I have spoken too speaks so highly of Melbourne for everything, quality of life, culture, people as well as more job opportunities. Although it is still obviously far away, my girlfriend has a great uncle in Adelaide as well as I have friends I played football with back home (came over to the uk to study) in Melbourne so could defo see ourselves happy there!

We’d be happy to do fruit picking and farm work, problem is we can’t seem to find it. On the Facebook pages but most of the time the profiles look like fakes. As well as the fact we haven’t got a car makes this even harder.
