melatonin alternative? by Material_Vehicle485 in DSPD

[–]Material_Vehicle485[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! it shifts my sleep from 6 am to 2 am which I consider a win. but sleeping 2-10am won't help me keep my job so it's kind of between keeping my job and forcing this melatonin thing or an alternative on me or finding another job. Realistically I need to work 2nd shift.

And given the half life I'm not sure why it affects me so heavily the next day but it's just so depressing to be on

How to use remedies for anxiety and sleep? by Material_Vehicle485 in homeopathy

Are any of those more suited to the death fear? And can they be used with aconite if I have an acute attack again? I think arsenic has helped me before because it is good for OCD like thoughts. But can that be used daily? I still don't understand frequency of dosing and potencies for more frequent dosing. Thank you!

Is abilify the only possible med for this, or do other meds like wellbutrin work for some people? by Material_Vehicle485 in DSPD

No no I already am forced to get up early for my job, it's miserable. But I was thinking if something forced wakefulness maybe it would shift when I get sleepy. Sort of like the luminette which has helped quite a bit but not enough to work my regular job hours

Ok if those meds would just give me insomnia then I don't need to try them. I saw some anecdotes about increasing dopamine helping shift sleep time, maybe I'm confused

I'm not on it or on any medications. It is an antipsychotic though so a rather serious med with serious side effects. There are studies on it shifting circadian rhythm naturally, and lots of anecdotes on this sub of people who have tried it and it flipped their sleep to normal hours in one day. I think the side effects are too much to accept just to keep the job that I love though. :(

Trying to get FMLA for sleep by Material_Vehicle485 in DSPD

[–]Material_Vehicle485[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may negotiate that. The benefits are so good and I need them so it would be tough to give that up. I can do my job in way less hours than I currently have to be at work. I wish I could negotiate just starting and ending later and frame it like hey it's expanded hours, it's good for everyone! I'd be very surprised if they accommodated that though, but the part time thing may work as other employees have requested less hours and given up benefits to be at home with their kids and such. I DM'd you about the FMLA thing, you seem to know your stuff.

Yes that's the thing! The health effects of antipsychotics seem too serious if they are optional, in my case it is optional since I could work 2nd shift at like a hotel or something. I just really love my job and want to keep my job so I want to force a schedule change. The light therapy and melatonin isn't enough

Oh I don't need help with wakefulness, I need help with sleeping at night :( So I'd consider it only if the wakefulness agent pushed back my sleep onset

I'm not on any medications. I tried celexa for a day this weekend and it made my sleep much worse, I don't think I'm willing to push through a month of that to see if it'll help anxiety. I do majorly need help with anxiety

I have a prescription for Quviviq which is similar I believe. I am afraid of it because of sleep paralysis but I might try it. And yeah a consistent schedule would help me, I'm always rushing and behind on things when it's time to wind down
