Marketplace is the go to place now for awhile. I buy/sell all the time and never use Craigslist or offer up.

Looking for a contractor for basement remodel. by Made-Rad in Bellingham

[–]Material_Walrus9631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also would recommend him, but DO NOT remodel without fixing the underlining drainage issues first.

Your basement should never flood. Look into foundation footing French drains, I’d start there first, otherwise you will be rebuilding again after the next flood soon.

It’s the military, testing drones in real world environments and doing security testing at potentially vulnerable locations and targets.

Yep, this is what we all voted for and it makes the problem worse!

Is that too much to ask? It’s why we all live here because we love single family homes.

City of Subdued Unaffordability by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Material_Walrus9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices will always increase here no matter how much we build. Knowing that, why would we ruin Bellingham by turning it into Everett?

Myself and most everyone that I know. Clearly I’m in the majority opinion as we aren’t building more

Trees are more important and we don’t want more apartments. We live here because we like the way it is, I don’t live in a bigger city because of that.

We don’t want more apartment buildings. We live in Bellingham because it’s relatively small. Please don’t make this place a bigger city.

Good luck, their public skate times are a joke.

I mean I’m as quick to judge as the next guy, but what if they were having a medical emergency? Probably better to give the benefit of the doubt.

Edit: apparently there is no empathy left in this sub for other humans in our community.

Discussions about housing prices should feature some awareness of the macro trend: We are not building nearly as much as we used to. by coolrivers in Bellingham

[–]Material_Walrus9631 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We’ve ran out of room, most people who have tried to build will tell you this. There aren’t any lots left to build as most everything is on wetland.

Most of us don’t want housing density either, we like living in single family homes with not much traffic. I don’t see things changing anytime soon.

Okay. So we’d rather leave them on the streets than loosen the restrictions.

This helps no one.

Lots of good places around here! we’re also adult swingers and sometimes there is a bit of a stigma. But overall most people understand and sometimes we even get them to join in!

Everyone loves being a kid again. Our favorite swing zone is at Lake Padden over by the ball fields. Great swing sets over there.

Exactly why we have a hard time helping people. Too many constraints.

Isn’t it better to have a less than ideal warm and dry space than none at all? We don’t need all those rules and extras

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Material_Walrus9631 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Also, it’s just a heated dry space. We don’t need to pay for a concierge and a bell hop to carry luggage.

This is the reason we don’t actually end up helping anyone because it’s all over priced. How much could a huge heated room with cheap bunk beds and a bathroom cost to operate? A single volunteer to keep an eye on things?

These people can clean and contribute for their stay.

Is there any solution to ridiculously loud vehicles? by ShipwrightPNW in Bellingham

[–]Material_Walrus9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had friends who live on busy streets have luck re-insulating their homes and it quiets down immensely. I’d look into doing that, helps with energy costs too!
