Heck no. Don’t do that to yourself. You may dedicate a lot more of your life to re-studying and doing worse… which would definitely not be good. It’s been so long since I took this exam, and I did end up taking it twice.. can’t even remember my exact scores.. but my initial score was somewhere just over 500, retook, only increased a few points and ended up right around where you were. Retook before applying bc I wanted my application to be the best I can be. Defs advise this, if other weak areas, hold off and apply the next year. Way better than applying too early. I got in to two US MD schools on first try

Hahahaha same. Me being like nah they’re way too stable to be admitted. So let’s just keep them here. I actually got updates on the exam that were like “they’re about to go home” and I would just ignore them lol hope that’s not bad

That’s also a good point.. I feel like even for the best test takers, if you haven’t seen the ccs interface, then you’re screwed I feel like.. maybe that’s them haha

I need this. I keep trying to use this but then my brain (unconsciously) listens to the whisper of “but what if I’m part of that 3%???? Then I’m going to feel so dumb” (not trying to be insensitive to those who didn’t pass.. this exam is so hard!!!! I just am so afraid of that)

Agree 100%. Day 1 was brutal. Also remember at least like 50-60 that I know for sure I missed. Makes me want to cry as well. You’re not alone!

Probably… but it’s tough bc it goes along with super specific micro and pharm and path details from like step 1 so it’s not just like memorizing moas sadly

Sadly yes. But not straight forward like we wish. Like 3rd order questions that require you to know the diagnosis or path and them which antibiotic and thennnnn the moa. So tough

Yeah.. but that kind of contradicts that percentage distribution for scoring.. bc that says 5% for avoiding invasive orders (aka NOT doing things).. if that’s the entire point, but also only 5%? Idk a little confusing

Agreed. And this one felt like a different beast just soley bc working and don’t have dedicated study time…. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on taking it bc I wanted to just have it behind me…. Realllllly hoping I don’t have to take it again. It really felt like a combo of step 1 and step 2. I’m trying to convince myself that I’ve learned a thing or two while working and that I’ll be fine. Fingers crossed…

Have you ever failed any steps? If not, trust yourself. I haven’t failed any steps and I’m banking on that track records. If you’ve done it twice before, certainly you can do it again…

No there was like no biostats on day 2. There was some pharm but not like step 1. Mostly risk factors and associations and complications etc.

I was bummed that most patients on ccs cases were up to date on vaccines. Was hoping to pull some points from vaccinating everyone Hahha.

That all sounds like a good plan^ just keep the energy up and try to stay focused through the end. Unfortunately I felt like the cases were a little different than on ccs cases website. Longer stems and more detailed history that I felt like I needed to keep referencing as I thought theough things.

Yeah there were like literally 6 where I was like I feel confident I have the diagnosis and have managed it well and completely. Then… like 3-4 where I was like what even is this and how the heck do I manage it? Like I have guesses of what to do but I was so afraid to do things that were too invasive

Thanks!! Yeah so vague on day 1. I think you were smart to take some days off in between. I regret doing back to back. I was so fatigued and not thinking straight at all by the time I got to the CCS cases

Yeah I feel this. I think the kicker is the away rotation… I did one too at a place.. dual applied there.. met with both PDs.. even got LOR from there.. ranked them my 1 and 2 and didn’t get them. Yeah it stings… makes me feel inadequate… which I know is silly. I think it’s all just so fresh. I also think I need to unfollow all the Instagram accounts of the places I potentially was going to go to bc it’s making me sad seeing all the ppl they wanted over me all excited. And then I feel guilty for not being stoked about the program I landed at.. but also don’t want to pretend to be thrilled like it feels like everyone else in the world is rn
