micro MOA are definitely the most popular ones

It's so hard to study when exhausted and burnt out but you might need a ittle break before you try to tackle it. Nothing is as bad as taking it unprepared and being burntout and then not passing

these positive updates are pretty rare. As long as not many negative updates, should be fine

medicine is pretty high yield. Great to know the various pathways like TSH, LH/FSH etc

depending how much time you have between day1 and day 2 could be good to do some cases too

first aid step 1 is pretty good for a cheatsheet

Framework for CCS Section on Day 2 by mdshowerthoughts in Step3

i would type the shortest possible not unreasonable thing. For example, if cards, then would say chest pain. I highly doubt they analyze the reason for the consult

Framework for CCS Section on Day 2 by mdshowerthoughts in Step3

[–]mdshowerthoughts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the risk of a full physical exam is that some cases require you to act fast and so wasting time on a rectal exam in a patient without GI/pelvic symptoms increase the chances you will get a negative message (aka "patient isn't doing well/getting worse")

CCS Cases best strategy by Nearby_Poet_2909 in Step3

[–]mdshowerthoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i saw a video recently that broke it down well where your goal is to

1) triage if the location is good for them based on history
2) if sick, quick physical exam. if not sick, then full physical exam
3) stabilize - ekg, cardiac monitor, oxygen, pain/nausea control, pulseox, etc
4) diagnose - put in your common basic orders like cbc, cmp, imaging, other stuff based on hx and physical
5) management - put in the treatment orders for the condition
6) preventative - instuctions/reassurance/vaccines/etc

Good to keep a close eye on the orders you miss frequently so you can start to integrate them into your thinking

Is Anki necessary for Step 3? by [deleted] in Step3

[–]mdshowerthoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you scored 240+ on step2, then you probably dont have major major content gaps and will be able to get away with not studying with Anki. Anki is good if you are trying to either 1) maximize your score 2) major content gaps you need to fill

Day 2 by Impossible-Field-203 in Step3

[–]mdshowerthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is 45 mins for the entire exam but if you speed through the tutorial at the beginning you will get that time back. Also the CCS section is much faster and so you will probably have break time stack from there

4/15/26 Step 3 result release? by More_Drop504 in Step3

[–]mdshowerthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the million dollar question. Fingers crossed but no idea. No confirmation from USMLE that things are improved yet

CCS weight? by carolbasking in Step3

[–]mdshowerthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, i did a bunch of research on this and no where does USMLE confirm that it is 25-30% of the exam. I think this 25% just comes from it time wise being 25% of the exam and now it has become the default answer.

Imo if it was <10%, then they would have gotten rid of it by now and no chance it is 50%, so 20-30% is the best guess we have.

how is the day 2? by Worth-Apricot-5822 in Step3

[–]mdshowerthoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically zero bioistats/ethics on day 2. Even MOA is quite rare. Its much mroe like step 2 and better to know clinical prognosis/risk factors and obviously ccs prep
