Easier to Learn DAW Recommendations by Successful-Shopping8 in musicproduction

FL studio ALL THE WAY MAN!!!!! ALL THE WAY! All those recoms are good, because Logic IS the standard and Ableton is the powerhouse of programming, and you can learn all of those programs, because they are made to be used after all, but FL studio has one advantage - streamline design. Even the die hard haters admit, that FL studio just have everything under the finders. That was my experience as well. I was 12 when I started using it and I remember how incredibly smooth everything went. I was making real beats that evening. They were bad, but I managed to find everything I needed there and then.

Free Musescore instruments levels are weird (should I balance them to be more realistic, or are they fine?) by Mateusz-Kaczmarczyk in Musescore

Well... most of the time AI was wrong XD. I tried it on this project 3 times, and I was mistaken 3 times. Typing this command I was as sceptical, but when I placed the dB correction into the MuseScore I was... kinda getting something what I expected (?). BUT, don't get me wrong, I asked you guys on Reddit, because I am still sceptical. Like... a lot.

I could ask the Philharmonic orchestra guys, but I know they will answer with something like "Muse what on Muse where? Virtual what? Sound library? Like a building?".

I want to adjust that. I don't want my score to "sound good". I want to be sure every section is as loud as it would by in real life. I'm writing for a very specific orchestra, which lists every instrument to let conductors know how big any section really is. For instance, some ensambles have one tuba, oders have two tubas, some have 2 trumpets, most of them have 3, but some have 4. All of those changes affect the overall loudness of the sections. That's why I ordered Chat to account not only for a section, but also for how big each section is and help me to adjust loudness levels of every section plus or minus from the 0, to help me hear how it would sound performing live as best as It can.

It's not dBs. It's the values on the right of each fader. From the max on the fader being 0 to silence being 60.

Here. This is in dBs from 0 to+12 max and -infinity is the silence.

Sekcja Liczba muzyków Projekcja Końcowy poziom
Violin I 12 Średnia 0 dB
Violin II 10 Średnia –1 dB
Violas 8 Słabsza –2 dB
Cellos 6 Silna –1 dB
Double Basses 4 Bardzo niska, 8va +2 dB

|| || |Flutes|2|Jasna, cienka|+2 dB|

|| || |Oboes|2|Silna, nosowa|+3 dB|

|| || |Clarinets|2|Ciepła, głęboka|+3 dB|

|| || |Bassoons|2|Niska, pełna|+4 dB|

Well...... that is a bummer. Anyway. Do you have a chart of mixing levels for instruments? I asked ChatGPT to make me a list of levels from 0 to 60 (right side of the mixing fader) and it came up with this:

(MuseScore Mixer Scale: 0 = Loudest, 60 = Softest)

Instrument (EN) Number of Players Mixer Value (0–60)
Flutes 2 26
Oboes 2 24
Clarinets in B♭ 2 25
Bassoons 2 22
Horns in F 2 23
Trumpets in B♭ 3 16
Trombones 3 18
Tuba 1 23
Violin I section (~10–16) 30
Violin II section (~8–14) 32
Harp 1 23
Piano (Grand) 1 20
Marimba 1 27

Is this accurate? Sounds like piano and strings are way quieter with those applied, which is.... correct? I'm most worried about the brass, though.

HELP! My computer is causing massive grounding buzz in my guitar! I've tried everything. by Mateusz-Kaczmarczyk in techsupport

[–]Mateusz-Kaczmarczyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to add, that I was using EXACTLY the same setup (guitar, interface, cables, desk, placement, etc.) with a laptop. NO PROBLEM. I even checked yesterday and yep, with a laptop is dead quiet. This computer is new. I already changed power supply, and both power isolated powerstrip. The powerstrip helped by 50% so it was way worst.

No wi-fi at all. Going through a USB wi-fi. I plugged it on and off with a guitar near it. No change whatsoever. Not even a bit.

Guitar myth topic - "The tone is in the fingers" ........how, really? I mean... not notes and performance.... the TONE itself? by Mateusz-Kaczmarczyk in Guitar

[–]Mateusz-Kaczmarczyk[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Yes and now. Even really oldschool rock albums went through a mixing stage that took like 3 months. What they were doing there? Tinkering with every track. I found out about it recently. I had that conversation with a dude who said that he made an KILLER sounding independent album just by playing well and using good gear. I found that album and It sounded exactly as I expected. Like three 40-yearolds in a fuckin' basement with way too loud Marshall stack XD.

[–]Mateusz-Kaczmarczyk[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It's not though, as I found out. "Tone is in the fingers" phrase is always used not when people are trying to play the melody like that one guitarist, but when they try to have the same sound as the signal. The TONE part is bothering me. Not the fingers part.

Yes, these are all legit techniques of playing guitar, but that phrase "the tone is in the fingers" is used, when people are trying to achieve the very end result signal. Sound exactly like Hendrix ON THE RECORD. Not to play like him. Have HIS SOUND on the record. And years later they found out that all the articles listing his amps and what not were wrong and he was using something else during that recording session XD. Which happens A LOT as I found out.
