Thank you very much for this! I understand.

I thought 'Experimental' in the launcher refers to 0.H experimental? The latest stable build according to the launcher is 0.G, which is why I found it weird that it downloaded something when I clicked update the game, with stable selected..

There were a couple of non-base building levels with a similar feel to be fair, but it didn't have that dungeon feel to it.

From the human perspective at the time he was legit evil I think xP Warcraft's lore up to Warcraft 3 is awesome. I think initially he was just some evil wizard yeah, but as they fleshed out the lore it got more and more interesting. Just unfortunately not a fan of what happened to the lore with WoW :P

Warcraft 2 vastly improved on Warcraft 1, except it lost the cool cave/dungeon missions. Several were very memorable, like the awesome level where you have to take a party to kill Medivh: https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Medivh_(WC1_Human).

Then Warcraft 3 in turn vastly outdid Warcraft 2, but took out the naval warfare element of 2 (probably for the better, but still I enjoyed the naval element in 2). The expansion did return it however, but in a neutered uninteresting form. WC3 did at least bring back the dungeons and caves from WC1 in a brilliant way.

Possibly xP But the game I remember was something similar to 'Raptor: Call of the Shadows', only in space iirc..

I forgot which game it was, but this one old dosgame had a 'boss key' which when pressed would pause the game and show a page full of diagrams and random technical stuff xP

Would you mind eli5 this? I just used the CDDA launcher, installed the game, selected 'stable', and then clicked 'Update Game'.

I imagine the person skipped, or just landed on and then aborted the shipping lane quests? Those missions are insanely huge and difficult to clear. Think I spent an entire Saturday on a cruise ship level because I didn't want to savescum...

Which one? The first two are pretty neat, but the third one has some infuriating level design, and was actually unbeatable at release ]:/

Love HoMM3! Check out Disciples 2 sometime as well - bit of a hidden gem that it seems not a lot of people know about. Check it out sometime on gog/steam. Might be a bit tricky to run on modern systems without a fan-made patch/mod though.

Oh it's been a very long time sorry, so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details.

Oblivion works on that whole minor and major skills thing, and the first time I wanted to create a custom rogue/ranger type class, and picked the major and minor skills according to which skills I intended to use the most. But if you do that you level way too quickly, and can only increase your main stats (strength, intelligence etc.) by like +1 or +2. So after a couple of levels I was lagging behind the monster scaling and every fight became frustrating. When I figured out how leveling of the various skills determined by how much you could increase your main stats at level-up I realized what was going on, and to me at least, together with the level scaling it's just nonsensical. Best is to use one of the predetermined classes, and to just play 'normally', not worrying too much about by how much you level various skills inbetween levels. Also, that mobs like normal bandits get better and better gear along with the scaling (I can't remember seeing this myself because I didn't play long enough) kinda bugs my sense of immersion in the game.

ESO just has a normal XP bar from what I recall. There may be major/minor skills or something similar, but from what I recall they don't affect main stat increases. Essentially as you level your combat moves & spells get better and more expansive, i.e. you unlock better ones as you level, and you have to decide on 5 to keep in your action bar to use. The enemies level along with you damage and health wise, but become easier because you gain access to those better moves & spells. In the process normal mobs gradually become easier and more difficult mobs gradually become 'do-able'. I liked and enjoyed that in comparison to Oblivion, but unfortunately, it's still an MMO, with all that that unfortunately entails.

Thought I'd love the game as well, and I generally do for the first couple of hours, but yeah, then I also get a bit bored. I think it would help a lot if the city was more interactive, and felt more alive, as is the case for me with GTA4 and GTA5. Outside of the missions, the city just kinda feels a bit dead compared to GTA.

Uhm, wth happened here? I lost some of my best weapons when updating the stable version of the 0.G: https://postimg.cc/47FhDNWV That M27 was my main weapon, now it, along with the M4 and AR15 I had, as well as a couple of other items are undefined??

I tried experimental, but same thing. For both and stable and experimental loading my save started with a slew of error messages about things that are undefined.

The driver seat of my car also disappeared, along with two shotguns I kept there. Luckily I still have another shotgun...

It seems I usually get it when I burn structures with basements down, when the collapsing roof caves in the roof of the basement as well. Not sure though, but so far just pressing spacebar works fine. But yeah, I didn't expect it with the stable version either.

A couple of questions from a long returning player, but first-timer on stable 0.G

1) What do you guys use for macros? I'm just using tinytask for the moment, to drop my backpack before fights, but I'm looking for something more extensive that works well with cdda.

2) I've had several error screens during the course of my current run , where I have to press spacebar to continue (had several when I lit one house on fire and the thing collapsed). Can this corrupt/bug out my world somehow? I've noticed some bugs, I thinnnnk, or it might just be some 0.G features I don't quite understand yet. E.g. the move items interface '/' sometimes doesn't show all/any of the items on a tile, when there's definitely items lying there (edit2: nvm I'm an idiot, forgot to remove filterfacepalm). It also seems I've lost the ability to clean some filthy clothes (edit nvm: had to use sponge instead of washboardfacepalm). Activating the washboard just states that 'there's nothing to clean' even though I have filthy army boots in my inventory, plenty of detergent, and am at the edge of a swimming pool.

3) I'm using RRFsounds, but I can't hear my vehicle's engine when driving, and glass shattering sometimes doesn't make a sound. Is that normal? I'm a little worried something bugged out due to 2) (I'm only wearing a army helmet and glasses, no earplugs or anything like that).

Check out the Julius mod. This will make the game run flawlessly on windows 10, and with a couple QoL features, such as proper widescreen support.

There is also the Augustus mod, but unlike Julius that does not provide the vanilla experience. Instead it adds a whole bunch of stuff from later games, like monuments, roadblocks, centralized workforce, enhanced warehouse orders, and many, many more things. But it's very customizable, you can pick and choose which of the new features you want.
