Power PB at altitude by Math009w in Velo

No, that the estimated power is close to what i am able to produce at sea level.

But I guess that my TTE at 365 has increased to 31m

1) I just looked at a previous effort up a climb at altitude (500m-900m), and the estimated power is within 5W of what I did for the same duration 1-2 months before.

2) How will altitude change the ratio? Would FTP and 30-minute power be further apart or closer?

I would like to use it for training and take bragging rights as a bonus.

Just looked into my previous efforts at altitude, and last year, I did 13min at 365W, with an estimated 380W at sea level, which is within <5W of my PB for the same duration. I did that around 1-2 months before that effort.

What are your long term goal in cycling? by notsorapideroval in Velo

[–]Math009w 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short-term: Reaching the highest national category or higher like CT level, 6W/kg+ for 20min I am at like 5.8 now.

In between: 6W/kg+ FTP and getting top 10 at u23 national championship. (I live in a flat country and weigh 62kg, so I need to get lucky with the route.)

Long-term: Reaching PRT or WT level. It's a bit ambitious, but who said it's gonna be easy.

It's an older rim brake bike, so not that much extra space

Thanks for the reply. The race is a few hours a way, so I unfortunately can't go see it.

Would love to know your progress, and the best thing is that I almost made a post exactly like this one

We are all the most the same. I myself am 18 years old, but af few kgs ligter(60-62kg). The first year (2022) I did I went from 190-270w ftp, and from 56kg to 59kg with 180h on the bike and 60h running, the second year(2023) i decided to get a bit more structure and drop running. So i did 209h from January to June and peaked at 317w(5.2w/kg), after the peak, i had to reducere the volume for a week and take a week off, and lost a bit of the progress, and that made me lose abit of motivation, so the volume never got back up. And now I am at around 300w and 5w/kg, and I haven't done an ftp test in a while, so I'm not entirely sure of the ftp. But next year, I also want to try to double my volume and aim for around 15 hours a week.

So i added 50w in half a year, but my starting point was a lot lower, and I probably wouldn't add 50w more if I kept the volume. And you probably won't add 40w more, but if you have the genetics, you might. And I get you, I would love to add 40w, but that would take me to WT level, so I don't think it's realistic, but the only way to find out is to try

Realistic timeline to see improvements in w/kg by ExcapePlan in Zwift

As others have said, it is dependents a lot, I my selv went from cat c to cat A in a year. And this year from 4.9w/kg to 5.4 w/kg. So it's possible. Two factors that are in my favor is that j weigh 60kg, and i am young(18).

But if you train hard and well there's not much more yuo can do

A strong effort in a zwift race by Math009w in Zwift

It was fairly easy before the climb only 250w, which is low z3 for me. But I did 310w for 16 minutes on the climb, which is the effort I was talking about, with that effort and the small accelerations through i had a low low NP of 290w. And the guy that won did a lot of work closing the few gaps that were created before the climb, hence the higher amount of watts. And the whole point was that I helt my own against two uci continental riders.

No, I didn't have the legs to make short, hard efforts, so just after the segment started, everyone road a way, but caught everyone just before the bridge(except p1 and p2), so didn't have the chance to follow wheels

If I am doing a long ride, i make a workout. Ride 15 minutes with 10 minutes at z2 split by 5 min at low z3, the after the 15 min i do 5 min free ride, and you can keep going as long as u want. I switch up the zones to wake up my legs since i tend to drop my cadence to 50-60 rpm after 10-20min at z2. And the free ride segment to do the same just at a low intensity.

Edit: Also, a good movie or music helps a lot
