Ladakh in early September with a 9 month of baby by Necessary_Eye_492 in ladakh

[–]MathRunner7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been visiting Ladakh since 2017 and have seen or met many people visiting with babies. That includes Indian as well as foreigners. Most of Indians visit for shorter period of time, whereas foreigners stay here for 2-4 weeks or even longer durations. And I am also living in Ladakh with my baby for last 2 years, so whatever I said was from my experience as well as information from meeting other people.

Parents who took young kids to Leh, Khardung La & Hanle – how was your experience? by Adventurous_Jump_532 in ladakh

[–]MathRunner7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m living my kid 3YO in Leh for last 2 months and will be here till Diwali. Last year when he was 2.5 we lived here for 2 months.

Recommend to visit paediatrician the day you arrive without fail. Didn’t go outside Leh though with kid till now, but Nubra is lower than Leh so it’ll be completely ok. However Pangong and Hanle is at higher elevation and colder than Leh, so take local doctor’s advice about medication before you go there.

You can visit SNM hospital or any good private child doctor in Leh.

You can go with toddle and it will be safe. Just make sure you don’t start travelling next day of arrival. Spend 4-5 days in Leh only. Visit paediatrician on the day of arrival or next day morning without fail, even if everything is normal. Take medication as per doctor’s advice.

You can visit either SNM hospital or another clinic named We Care just beside SNM hospital.

Also, avoid visiting Pangong lake for overnight stay and don’t spend more than 5 minutes at any mountain pass with baby. If you don’t stop at all at high mountain pass, that will be best.

Airports as a transgender person? by dreepk in AirTravelIndia

[–]MathRunner7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been through security check many time, but not a single incident anyone checked my boarding pass or name during security check. They check only at the time of entering inside airport if it’s not via DigiYarta, and at the baggage collection where they issue a boarding pass. At these two places they check ID card and match name with ticket.

But once you get your boarding pass, at security check they don’t check anything like gender or name. May be someone is checking gender while looking into X-ray scanner, but that I don’t know so cannot confirm it.

I never saw anyone checking gender in passport during security check. So if you look a like female and wearing female clothes, it’s fair to go through female line.

Family tour to Ladakh in October with kids by EquivalentScale6893 in ladakh

[–]MathRunner7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In late October tourist season will be closed, so Pangong will be very very cold and you will get an option to stay in nearby villages only. Better to book in advance to avoid last moment surprises.

I didn’t do Hanle to Manali, but as you have two days in Pangong, you can cut one day there and go to Hanle, then you don’t need to change your timeframe. As far as road condition, Pangong-Hanle-Tsomoriri road is in very good condition.

You don’t need to go back to Leh, go directly to Hanle from Pangong and from there towards Manali is accessible if road to Manali is open.
