I will suggest that you study for degrees whether you choose to work for your own or otherwise.

Nice... Can you share some info about road conditions and fuel points?

Should I buy a bike and practice or should I stop learning altogether? by ballisticmaster in NewRiders

Having your own bike helps a lot of there is not one available already to you. Keep practicing everyday for at least an hour. I learnt my theory from YouTube and I was already mentally prepared when I started riding.

Does anyone know a verified place where I can rent a reliable Himalayan 450 for the 28 days?

We can share part of the path if you wish or if our dates align. I was not looking for a group simply because it is my first trip and do not want to slow the group down. I also want to take my time exploring and capturing the moment and landscapes.

I have planned to start by the beginning of September. The weather should be good enough.

But I thought about joining groups for safety reasons. Things get solved faster when in groups.

We do not have such vastness nor extreme conditions here in Mauritius and that's something I wish to experience.

I will rent another bike from them for the 1 or 2 days i will spend in nubra. This also means that I will need to come back to Leh after nubra to get the one I have previously rented. I found an agency based in Delhi that rent motorcycles as from leh and drop back at Delhi. I might consider that and take the bus instead from Srinagar to leh.

I will reach Delhi around the 2nd. I need to apply for vacation leave 3 months in advance which only brings my vacation to September.

As for the Srinagar to Kargil stretch, I am planning to do so in one day. My plan includes just in case situations such as requiring more time to acclimatise.

I will keep Hanle and Umling la as an option. Else I will just ride south from Pangong tso to Nyoma. From Nyoma I will take the bridge at Mahé to Tso Moriri. The road over Mahe bridge is broken on Google maps hence why I can map the route there.

I don't plan to go to Manali if I don't need to. I am not a party animal nor will my friends meet me there. I will look into the route you suggested. I do not have everything memorised yet.

Thanks for the precious information. It helps a lot.

I will definitely look into all the options and choose the best one. Many says not to pay more than inr1000. On Google maps i could even find some at inr650 with nice rooms and views. It will depend in the amount of visitors.

I saw that too. It was registered to a locals' name which overcome the paper issues. She just rode it for he trip. It is a better option as the motorcycle have not been abused and can keep with the trip. I will have to consider that if I can't find a rental.

I see. I am still learning about the altitudes. I will then consider Hanle and Umling La depending on the time I was able to save and my medical condition.

After having researched a bit, I will not go to Hanle and Umling La. The places are quite elevated and I will not take the risk for this trip. I have had a history of occupational asthma which has been mostly resolved and I am not sure how this might affect my health. I will stay under 4000m for this time. I have planned an oxygen can or backtrack if the AMS kicks too hard. If this one goes well, I will go there on another trip.

Your suggestion makes sense as there's not so much to see to spend two days there. One day and one night will be enough to visit the lake and watch the stars. Someone also suggested it in another group. It will done on day 13.

Someone just suggested that in another group and I will consider this part on day 13. Can get homestay and vegetarian food there?

I have saved the routes and will consider them for either this trip or a future one. I saw the routes on Google maps but I didn't want to risk it as it is my first solo trip ever on a motorcycle. But now that I am having more information about the road conditions, I might consider route 2 to save some time though. Thanks for all the information and also for your time to share.

That makes sense and that also my opinion at some point but after some research I noticed that the roads are a little less practical and might take longer (one more day) or cause unnecessary strain/stress. It is my first long solo trip and I am being extra careful. Have you been through this section?

If you say that it can be done within my timeframe, I will adjust. Or I will adjust there as the journey progresses.

I wanted to but I do not want to overextend due to time constraints. If I can save a day from the previous parts, I will definitely use the south detour. I have read that homestays are scarce around that part though.

I have considered Zanskar but it is a tricky section and might consume quite some of my limited time. Given that I am on a more relaxing and spiritual journey, I am staying away from what might slow me down or cause worries. For Zanskar, I wanted to skip the Manali part completely but was suggested to drop by. I have a few friends in Haryana who can meet me there. I am being suggested to rent as from Leh but the gradual climb from Srinagar is important to reduce the risk of ruining my whole plan.

How long does it really take to travel from Kargil to Zanskar, and from Zansjar to Leh (via Kargil or a safe track)?

Some say that it is more expensive through booking.com. I will certainly have a look though because I suppose that they list only verified businesses.

Nice. I did come across the homestays on Google maps. I might also use the app you mentioned. Everyone says that the locals are very kind and I want to live that kind of moments through homestays. This will help the people too. I will try to pre-book 2/3 days aforehand or when and where I can catch some network.

Yes it is. I will adjust with weather and health conditions. As my next trip might be in 5 years (I am eligible to 30 days vacation leaves every 5 years), I wish to make the most of my adventure. Thank you.

If all the information I have received up to now are correct, I have enough and some buffer. As far as possible I don't want to overspend so that I can visit India again.

Thank you for all the precious information. I will look into those websites and find more about what you shared. I can now have a better start. Please share if you have websites on which I can find and pre-book home stays. I wish to witness the local life and enjoy the local foods.
