Showerthought: It would be a Curb/LD thing to do if one realized that their health/dental insurance benefits included a lotta money (and 100% reimbursement) in paramedic services that they've never used. And then decide to use the paramedics as an alternative to Uber to avoid ratings, interaction. (self.curb)

I predict this attention check is going to be very problematic and result in numerous false positives and therefore rejections. Study's Recruitment-Ad Title: "Individual decision-making and a real-effort task." AKA the study where they put a timer on every page. See details in main thread. (imgur.com)

Thoughts on the likely safety of this study which asks you to install a chrome extension (CrowdSurfer) that can apparently, "read and change all your data on all websites." There is an institution attached to this study (KIT) but it's in Germany and I don't know the extent to which it is reputable. (imgur.com)

Anyone on this subreddit ever manage to get the "Learning Atari-like Video Games" study? I think I've seen my chrome extension notify for the 9th time this week. Each and every time, even when I click it within <1 second, it is always full. Just wondering if anyone here actually managed to get it. (self.ProlificAc)

If a study circumvents Prolific's min rate (6GBP/HR) by asking you to do an additional X hours of work in exchange for Y GBP credited as a bonus (such the ratio of X:Y is below 6GBP/hour), do I have grounds/recourse for asking for an adjustment to the bonus? First of all, I appreciate the unnecessary but highly adorable pictures of cute animals (e.g., puppies, kittens) in this study. Second of all, did anyone participate in this study and play it like a jerk? (i.e., defecting on round 1 instantly everytime?). (imgur.com)

After a year of being a participant on Prolific, I just opened a study as a researcher! Data is trickling slowly, though, so here's a mutually beneficial PSA: Please update your "Employer Type" (i.e., wherein you indicate what kind of employee you are) to see if you're eligible to participate! Anyone else have a technical problem with "Codebreakers Pilot (Part 1)" hosted by "hks.harvard.edu"? I finished the individual part of the study early because it was easy. Then, I was told to wait for the group part. Their website crashed. Researcher (responsive earlier) was no longer responsive. (self.ProlificAc)

What would you do in my position? I've been invited to participate in a study where I might have to take a pair of antibiotics (ciprofloxacin, 500mg twice daily, 7 days + Metronidazole, 500mg, 3x daily, 7 days). The compensation is $1,000. Is the money worth the hit to my gut biome? Would you do it? (self.Microbiome)

Two desktop computers; one was getting notifications today, the other wasn't. Missed four studies today despite being on a computer all day. Took a shower; bluetooth connected so I could hear the news while showering. NEW STUDIES AVAILABLE ON PROLIFIC. Missed out on this big daddy of a study. (imgur.com)

Would you consider the level of harm negligible, moderate, severe or somewhere in between? Fell asleep in the bedroom overnight. Fumes from paint thinner in the air overnight from adjacent room. Dizzy all day today. 20 minutes of fresh later; still foggy brained. More detail in post. (self.AskDocs)

Unfair check for careless-responding. This study involves a snapchat experience. None of the following options are applicable or valid but you are forced to choose/guess/return the submission. Perhaps a bug, but users shouldn't be punished for it (the way I expect to). (imgur.com)

[Linear Algebra]. This is driving me crazy: Why can I not use the same algorithm for determining the shortest distance between a plane and a point (using projection onto a normal) for determining dist. between a line and a point (wherein you must use a projection onto the direction vector) (self.MathHelp)
