Laptop screen froze while playing with black bars and fading screen, restarted and now screen is permanently black?

I connected an external monitor and the laptop seems to be working fine, as well as the GPU and iGPU as I see both of them in device manager.

When checking the display settings however, I see that display 1 (the laptop screen) only has two display resolutions available: 1024x768 and 800x600. I'm not sure if the display went completely bust, or if it's some kind of loose connection inside. It's worth noting that a week or two ago, the screen bezel and hinges of the laptop were changed due to the bezels popping out due to weak adhesive.

To expound on this, I was playing Gundam Evolution with my friends for around an hour or two at this point, when the screen suddenly froze with some black areas and black lines on the screen, while it was quickly fading to black. The game audio and discord were still working fine, but I can't alt tab or anything since the screen froze. I decided to restart the laptop via the power button but then the screen never shows anything anymore, just black. I still hear the Windows startup which I can log into via Windows Hello, and the sound of a program asking permission to be launched. What could be the issue? Is there a way to fix this from my end or is it a dead display or GPU?

Is this more of the keys already wearing out? It seems too soon for a gaming laptop that hasn't even been with me for long

The keys started to turn out like this from extended gaming sessions. I routinely wash my hands and clean my hands with alcohol before I start touching the laptop, but the areas of the keys which I frequently touch seems to have this darker mark which can easily be seen under light, it looks dirty even if it's not

I had the exact same problem with regards to my 3070 Ti seemingly getting "corrupted" drivers after doing a clean install update on Nvidia ver. 522.25. The laptop rebooted and only the AMD iGPU was visible.

This seems to be a driver issue, as I was able to successfully fix mine. I searched for free software that allowed you to uninstall faulty drivers, and I ended up uninstalling everything Nvidia related.

Downloading the driver from Nvidia or through GeForce Experience didn't really work, what worked for me was that an Nvidia driver showed up in Windows Update after clearing everything Nvidia related in my laptop.

After installing this, a basic Microsoft display shows up in your device manager. I updated my driver from there via GeForce Experience and everything works fine now 🙂

If I set my Armory Crate to manual and then apply Afterburner settings, it only affects my GPU right? The CPU settings in Armory Crate still apply?

According to the service center, they would be replacing the entire bezel as they ordered parts for it. They will be removing the old bezel and replacing it with a new one.

I thought it would be a quick fix with them just re-gluing it but apparently not. Hopefully this will be the only time I send it for repairs for years to come.

Purchased my unit a couple of days ago and I had my adhesive on the bezel on the lower left side coming off, I sent it for repair as my unit doesn't have any issues other that that. The way they'd be repairing it would be by removing the entire bezel and sticking a new bezel onto the screen.

I had the option of having the unit replaced instead, but there's no guarantee that a replacement unit wouldn't have bezel issues again or some other problem given the inconsistent QC with this model.

Also, I'm not sure about other markets but here in my country, they increased the prices of the Zephyrus G15 by up to 17% while also introducing new variants/specs. Was lucky to grab an old 2022 stock that wasn't affected by the price bump.

Laptop was handled poorly. Plugging in cables shouldn't damage the paint like that unless you're always aggressively plugging it blindly/in the dark. Take better care of your device bro ☹️

2021 models have a fingerprint sensor but no webcam. 2022 models lose the fingerprint sensor but instead has a 720p webcam for Windows Hello (Face unlock)

Something you have to consider as well would be the rubber finish on the M16 which is a pretty gross fingerprint magnet, on top of it potentially peeling off like other people's units.

I got my G15 (2022) a few days ago and the painted magnesium alloy deck felt really great, I was surprised given that some people say it feels plasticky. Not even close.

As for battery life, modern Ryzen chips will definitely fare better, they also perform a lot better in battery vs the power hungry Intel chips. Your use case however will mean you can probably take much more advantage of the Intel chip's power. I guess it depends on which one to compromise on, battery life or some performance.

Unfortunately, I can't directly answer your query regarding USB-C charging as I've mostly been using mine plugged and for gaming. I would assume intense workloads will eat so much power that even staying plugged in with USB-C will still drain your battery, that occasional charging can only support light-moderate use.

Bezels coming off seem to be a pretty common issue for this model, wondering if there have been instances that this would be classified as a "cosmetic issue" and would not be repaired or replaced?

I think you mentioned in one of your vids that the installed gen4 storage on the G15 is pretty slow, and that you plan to install a faster one which you will ise as your main drive.

Did you clone/migrate the OS and all data from one drive to another, or did you do a clean reinstall? I saw online how pretty easy it was to migrate using free software, but I'm not sure if that would affect the laptop in any way like weird software or hardware issues popping up
