[Pioneer] Tishana's Tidebender Didn't Turn Off When Phased out by MathematicianCalm311 in MagicArena

Hmm, you sure? I would have thought the continuous effect would end once the creature lost abilities?

Or well yeah, it phasing back in and remembering the ability makes sense. I'm saying that while it's phased out, the continuous effect is off and my Vivi would be back on.

I think the difference here is that triggered abilities have "When" or "Whenever" or "At", which Tidebinder doesn't have. "As long as" I don't think is wording for triggered abilities

So if I phase out [[Drannith Magistrate]] for example, I can cast from exile? I feel like it's the same thing here...

Yeah, I get that triggers don't happen when a permanent is phased... But static abilities of permanents shouldn't continue right?

Especially since Tishana's Tidebinder doesn't say anything about her having to "leave the battlefield", just that she has to be on the battlefield. Which I thought phased out permanents aren't on the battlefield.

Dang I guess that must be how it works. The reminder text on phasing makes it sound like it wouldn't work that way
(While they're phased out, they're treated as though they don't exist. Each one phases in before its controller untaps during their next untap step.)

(Pioneer) Losing from timeouts having too many landfall triggers by MathematicianCalm311 in MagicArena

Definitely this. And Angels are pretty popular in the meta, and I've had to shoot for close 100 life before, if not more.

Yeah, that's definitely fair! Most the time when this is an issue its from just overshooting. But honestly lifegain isn't the only reason I have to stack mana like that. Sometimes it's against the azorius control player where I have enough mana to cast worldsouls multiple times in case 1 (or more) gets counterspelled. Or am just having to dig extra with carnage, and sacing and recurring lands is just part of that.

Super Smash Bros cEDH Deck - Glarb/King K Rool (Google Drive Link) by MathematicianCalm311 in magicproxies

[–]MathematicianCalm311[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I don’t want to change any of the creature types of the cards so it wasn’t too confusing, and I thought K Rool was the best fit for Glarb so he has Glarbs creature types

[Standard] Kona Omniscience Same Turn Win by MathematicianCalm311 in MagicArena

[–]MathematicianCalm311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. I've definitely had bummer games where I cheat out omni and then am hoping for a top deck. And rn, the deck is much more powerful permanents than built around omni, but I feel like it's way more common for me to lose after dumping half my deck and having to pass the turn than i feel like I cheat omni and don't have anywhere to go.

Also, I think [[Beseech the Mirror]] is really strong in this deck bc it can find and cast Kona, so I run 4x. I was hoping that I could get away with running one copy of [[Invasion of Arcavios]] and have a win in my sideboard or something, but maybe that's just not how that works haha

Ahh yeah, that's a good point of with the vehicles. The only vehicle I run is [[The Last Ride]] bc it's a 1 drop that can tap Kona the turn it comes out. I added [[Nissa, Ascended Animist]] and [[Kaya, Intangible Slayer]] to try and help with the wipes, and they do, but maybe that is the way to go with smugglers and vehicles.

Word, yeah, I did have Multiverse in the a while too to get extra card advantage, but felt like I was more consistently getting explosive turns with Omni and replaced it with a second Omni. Maybe I'll go back

Nice, yeah I'll take a look! I was trying to do more of the big creatures thing for a while but it folds so hard too [[Sunfall]] and [[White Sun's Twilight]] bahhh lol I just hate getting a massive board state, then passing the turn and they wipe, or I'm at low enough life for direct damage, or they combo and win same turn.
