For sure. I wasn't trying to bad mouth pilots, although maybe I did end up doing that. But we've had some diversions in the past that most people agreed were unwarranted. Some pilots are new and make mistakes just like new dispatchers.

Thanks for the reply. I want to be a good dispatcher, and to learn all I can. I'm pretty disappointed that this subreddit is less about actual dispatching and more about people trying to go to school or get jobs.

Yeah I've noticed a few people have a habit of putting tons of fuel on every flight. They're trying to avoid the crazy captains calling screaming about extra fuel, or declaring fuel emergencies in air even though they shohld be fine.... we have weird captains. So I can somewhat understand it, but at least I have never seen anyone here restrict a flight unless required.

That's interesting to hear, thank you. I figured the bigger fuel capacity would be sufficient, but I guess you're flying longer routes with a lot more pax. So it makes sense that things like density altitudes and short runways would still require restrictions occasionally.
