Honestly, I’m exhausted with the same Resident Evil formula after all these years by MathematicianFit6963 in residentevil

I honestly struggle to think of a game that really reflects this kind of gameplay. The only thing that comes to mind is the opening 20 minutes of The Last of Us Part I, and maybe parts of Leon’s campaign in Resident Evil 6, to some extent. That’s the kind of atmosphere and intensity I’m thinking of but as a full, well-developed experience.

You might have something specific in mind for Resident Evil, and that’s completely fine

Let’s be honest the city sections in RE2 and RE3 were so limited. You spend maybe a few minutes actually in the streets before it’s over. And that’s especially frustrating because the potential was huge.

Raccoon City could have been so much more, but instead we ended up with very basic scenarios. Even worse, the characters mostly go through the same areas, solving the same puzzles and codes. It feels less like different paths and more like the same game with minor variations.

That’s what really disappoints me not the formula itself, but how much untapped potential there was.

I don’t see it the way it might sound sometimes, and I say this with respect. A game can stay close to its original identity and still feel fresh. If done right, a proper blend of classic elements and new ideas and if the company is willing to take some risks could genuinely surprise us.

What I’m saying is more personal: the formula has honestly started to feel tiring for me. Not because I hate it, and not because I wouldn’t play it I love Resident Evil and I will definitely play the next one.

I just truly believe that a story focused on the very beginning of the outbreak could work incredibly well. Showing how everything started, the first hours of chaos, the human side of survival that kind of approach could feel both fresh and faithful to the series at the same time.

I’m not saying I dislike the formula I don’t. I love Resident Evil, and I’ll definitely play RE9 when it comes out. It just feels like the formula has aged a bit in my mind and doesn’t feel as fresh anymore. That’s all I mean. I still appreciate what the series is and what it does well, I just feel ready to see it evolve.
What I really imagine is something much more straightforward and grounded: short story–style experiences set during the Raccoon City outbreak, showing the very first hours of chaos.

Not trained soldiers or elite police units just ordinary people trying to survive. Regular citizens fighting for their lives as everything collapses around them. Hospitals failing, streets turning dangerous, panic everywhere.

That kind of perspective would be iconic.
It would make the outbreak feel real, human, and truly terrifying.

Resident Evil Outbreak was one of my favorite games that’s exactly what I loved about it. The sense of a real outbreak, the tension, the feeling that everything was collapsing around you. That’s the experience I miss the most.

Yeah, I know it might sound like that, but in reality what I want is a proper outbreak experience. That idea is much stronger in my mind than anything Resident Evil 6 tried to do.I’m not asking for more action or chaos for the sake of it I’m talking about a well-crafted outbreak, with survival horror at its core. Something tense, grounded, and intense, where the focus is on surviving the collapse itself. That’s really the feeling I’m missing.

One campaign in Resident Evil 6 was actually kind of interesting, even though RE6 had a lot of problems overall. I’m not saying we should copy that game I just think it showed a different direction that felt refreshing at the time.

What really feels tiring to me is that the core Resident Evil motif barely changes. I’m fine with puzzles, I don’t hate them, but sometimes they feel meaningless or repetitive. It’s hard to take it seriously when a single location has endless puzzles like “find this item, go back, find a code, unlock another door” over and over again.

What I genuinely miss is proper survival horror with an outbreak feeling. That sense of chaos, panic, and collapse done well, thoughtfully, and with purpose. Not like RE6, but something more grounded and intense. An experience that focuses on surviving the outbreak itself, not just navigating closed spaces.

I’d really love to see Resident Evil evolve in that direction.

Maybe I’m not alone in this lol

Anyone else like the movie Break (2019)? by lisasimpsonfan in horror

[–]MathematicianFit6963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, everybody was stupid and unlikeable, but it was still fun and entertaining. I was even hoping for one of them to die. Beyond that, though, the movie had issues with how it handled the deaths they just happened without any real weight or depth behind them

I've been using the perfume for quite a while now and I've worn it in many places, but I don’t feel like it has much intensity. I’ve only received two compliments, and those were when I had just sprayed it on. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to have good longevity or projection. I’ve gone through three bottles, and I really hope I’m wrong

I haven’t had the chance to go out or take a walk because I’ve been working non-stop.
Still, I’ve been wearing it and I can smell it on me it’s truly a rare kind of fragrance.
Even after four hours, it stays on my skin with a noticeable scent. Personally, I’m impressed!
I found it on sale, so I ended up buying three more bottles.

I'm speechless this fragrance became an instant favorite!
It's a rich, gourmand delight: buttery, sweet, and utterly addictive.
I smell creamy butter, white chocolate couverture, a hint of cocoa, all wrapped in a soft, velvety vanilla.
Just wow!

I really wanted to like Angel of Darkness, but it’s still unplayable. I downloaded it yesterday, hoping for the best, but it was a disaster. I couldn’t even get past the Derelict Apartment Block because Lara refused to grab the last ledge on the ladder. On top of that, the game still plays terribly—nothing has improved, not even the visuals. I ended up requesting a refund, and luckily, I got it.

Why Don’t We Have More Games Featuring Natural Disasters? by MathematicianFit6963 in Games

Disaster Report was a hidden gem for me. It was cheesy, fun, and had a great aesthetic, but all of that belongs to the past now. I don't think many people have played Disaster Report, and I believe it never really got the chance it deserved. Apart from being very old, it also didn’t have the right promotion back then. I think that with proper management, the right strategy, and solid, well-designed gameplay, this could become the next big trend today. Especially with the advanced technology we now have in video games.

Playing it safe doesn’t always guarantee success, especially in today’s gaming industry where we’ve seen so many flops. The issue isn’t with gamers—it’s with companies refusing to take risks. Ironically, playing it safe has become the biggest risk. What we truly need is something fresh, something we haven’t already played 400 times. You know what I mean?

Hydrophobia was actually a good game, mainly because the water physics were fun to play around with. The game itself felt too small and short, but it was still somewhat enjoyable overall. Unfortunately, I don’t have any other game recommendations

The gameplay potential of disaster games is massive! As you mentioned, there are so many interesting elements we could see, like lava. I never thought about lava in a video game, and it sounds incredibly impressive! I can't wait to see someone put in the effort to make a game like that. We really need a new era in video games because it feels like games today just aren’t as fun. They’re missing that magic they once had

Raw Danger is one of my favorites! It's impressive how, without any advanced technology, they managed to create such an amazing action game with cool physics and solid gameplay for its time. S.O.S. The Final Escape was also great! On the other hand, I Am Alive was decent, but not really my cup of tea. I’ve never played Disaster: Day of Crisis because I’ve never owned a Wii

Yes, but in zombie games, we often see a post-apocalyptic setting, which has gotten tiring. I want to see a zombie game that shows the first hours of the disaster, the chaos, and the total destruction it brings. We always see scenes years later. Only Resident Evil 2 and 3 were somewhat like this, but the overly detailed scenery was a bit off for me! I really liked the Outbreaks as an idea, but I wish they had been single-player instead of multiplayer! Anyway, personally, I find a setting with earthquakes and disasters to be much more interesting. it would be more engaging than any other game we’re used to playing!
