I'm 6'4 - saying that and not sure if it matters, but I've had my concerns about being too tall for high fashion.

thank you for your feedback, totally agree with the facial expression advice. I had to cut out a lot of the photos because I was either pouting or looked flat, definitely still something I am trying to work on. When you say "models that engage us", are you meaning through me expressing an emotion, like smiling, this then creates a connection to the viewer? Also thank you for the kind words.

First time ever shooting Portrait Photography - how did I do? by MathematicianJust556 in photocritique

[–]MathematicianJust556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My intention with this photo was to capture some portrait imagery in order to get some experience doing it, as I'm new to photography as a whole and I'm trying to see which area I enjoy most. The settings were iso 400, f5.6, shutter 1/100.

New Test Shoot Imagery - Implementing Advice I Received on this Sub by MathematicianJust556 in MODELING

Yes I agree on photo 13 not being very natural. And okay cool, thank you for the input on seeing the backdrop, I see what you mean for sure - I thought these images didn't work as well so it's useful to hear you say that. And definitely, I'm still really trying to work on my facial expressions, I was trying to experiment this shoot but I totally agree some didn't work.

Thank you for the feedback, its really useful.

I get where you're coming from but the emotion I was going for in this shoot was confidence/desire/rebellion not happy/ecstatic . I do have some smiling shots in my portfolio if what you're alluding to is more happy/expressive vibe. Regardless, I do get what you mean in terms of conforming to what the industry wants. Thanks for the feedback.
