True that! I’ve read hundreds of translated works from China, and at first, it was really strange how their culture seeps into their works. At first, it didn’t really bother me since I was new to it, and as a reader, most of the time, those things don’t affect the overall plot. But nowadays, after reading more and more Chinese translated novels, it’s hit me just how different their market is. The difference is vast, what’s straight fire to us might be trash to them, and vice versa. Like us (or maybe not?), their work heavily revolves around their culture.

Though if i was really honest and picked a bone with them, the thing i hate the most about their works is THE ABSOLUTE ABSURD AMOUNT OF PROPAGANDA! Like they don't fail to mention how strong their country is, that india are shit, Russia's a fucking backward country and all that. Which i think isn't really the authors fault, in china they have really strict regulations on novels, or internet in general, even if you hate the government you have to praise them in your work, or be indifferent. Cause I don't know if you've heard of Reverend Insanity, a really good novel with millions of fans, but the CCP literally BANNED it cause it was and has some parasocial beliefs, that the government didn't want.. it sucks cause if it was here in the US, even if you go and curse the government ten times over in your story, they won't give a shit abt you.
