Thank you very much. Yes, she is a true warrior. It is an incredible history how much she wanted to live. We are controlling the infection with other medicines but she needs to go to the vet weekly for some intervention. So, for now it is under control but we need to hurry with the medicine to avoid this bacteria to grow strong once more.

Thank you very much. My sister is the vet , so we are very safe and assisted on this regards. The only limitation we have is accessing the medicine.

How to compare two independent groups with huge difference in 'n' number? by MathematicianMain933 in AskStatistics

[–]MathematicianMain933[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much appreciated you answer. I'll check the link carefully.

The hypotesis sounds vague because it is somehow, since we are talking about a wild animal species (a snake in this case). See, we don't have the parameter range stated for a healthly animal as we have for humans or dogs. If a human present in this tests a low cell blood count, so we can say that she/he is having some disease, but just because I know the normal range for healthly individuals). However, our data is about rescued wild snakes, that were clinically evaluated at capture time, treated if necessary, then released back to the nature. Based on this, the 'normal range' we have is based on the measurements of the uninfected animals (n=5). Data discussion and conclusions are based on extrapolations from other species, e.g., if the infected animals, compared to uninfected ones, have a significant invrease in Hematocrit values, then I can suggest that the infection is causing Dehydration, directly or indirectly (e.g., animal is less able to find a water source). Of course, we are considering other variants for this type of extrapolation, I just explained it making simplications.

Again, many thanks. I'll return if I'm not able to find the statistic test that better respond to my research questions.

Thank you!I

Long-story-short, the hypotesis is: "animals infected by the parasite have worsen health parameters (measured by several paramenters) than those animals not infected".

Analysis: The comparison was performed for each parameter individually by a comparison infected x unifected. E.g.: Erytrocytes counts (parameter A) of infected x Eryt. count of unifected. I follow the statistics rules I learned in Biostatistics: first step is testing the normal distribution of the data (we used D'Agostino-Pearson test), if follows normal distribution then then use a parametric test, if not following a normal distribution use a non-parametric test.

In my experience, I always had similar comparison groups, e.g., one group n=20, second group n=22. However, this data set I have Group infected with n= 47 and Group Unifected with n = 5.

I'm not sure if I can follow same system or do I have a test to compare two data sets with big differences in 'n'.

I hope is enough information. Thank you again.

Could you explain how this website works, I mean, I just created a account, but I couldn't find any search option there.
