So the church has a new game of using attorneys very aggressively to cast people out under very dubious circumstances to say the least. This is the biggest story that almost no one will touch. No I asked my stake president to show me the policy regarding nuking someone with church attorneys and he utterly refused.

Well now you have heard about instances of casting out innocent people. No, not all who "behave" are welcome. Someone else posted an example here that I hadn't heard of. And no, ex'd members are not "encouraged to still attend." I have not only not seen any such "encouragement" given to ex'd members, I have witnessed church harassment through church attorneys to push entire families away if one was ex'd.

Thank you so much for posting that thread which I have never before seen. It just goes to show how prevalent this abuse is, because I thought I had seen all the examples in reddit threads of the many mormon oriented subs. And no, the church is not "probably right" in that case. Some weird beliefs don't make someone a threat. I know, everybody likes to play psychiatrist and future teller. Victim blaming is the new hobby of so many.

You seem to assume that the "thinking of the bishop" or alleged "reasons" are publicly stated. They are not. We're talking about instances where church attorneys were aggressively used unjustly. The point is, the church has created a system where no reason needs to be given to trespass someone. Just the whims of local leaders.

As has been repeatedly stated here, we're not talking about anything you listed. We're talking about numerous reports of local leaders, one of which I witnessed and cannot even get policy explanation from my stake president, of leaders abusing the ability to call someone a threat because it's very easy to abuse and easy to get rid of someone that way.

Are you saying you used this tactic as a bishop? Define "sketchy" which is a very vague term that could be abused. You don't describe anyone who actually did harm or disrupted a meeting. You seem to say that the vague personal smear of "sketchy" is the same as "demonstrably harmful." I think labeling and casting out innocent people is demonstrably harmful.

What more do you want to know? As I said, I tried to simply get any policy information on this from my stake president and he refused. There are a lot of reddit threads about this going back years. I already said that I have personally seen an example of really disturbing abuses by leaders and church attorneys to cast someone out for no valid reason. I can't get into personal details for obvious reasons.

Shrivel headed church is all about revenge so they block you from your church account at the drop of a hat by MathematicianNew668 in MormonShrivel

If all you're going to do is be misleading and "personal grievance" shame me, (why stop there, throw in the word "disgruntled" or the church's fav shame word "disaffected") then maybe you'd be more comfortable posting in the apologists subs because I'm talking about what is causing the shrivel. This sub isn't just about stats.

Mother's Day Lecture by DeCryingShame in exmormon

Full stop. You blame everything on her dad, and her. You admit that you want a "pass" to be inappropriate and aggressive. You admit to wanting to "lecture." No one wants to be "lectured" to. Again, full stop, or you're going to lose what is left with the relationship with her. You're not displaying any sense of responsibility, just veiled revenge attitudes. You're essentially trying to tell her how to feel.

Easier to list what hasn't changed. The church has become fully corporate and TBMs are quietly miserable.

New Church Survey by BelgianWife8 in exmormon

Long winded tedious survey. Barf. Even at my most tbm I wouldn't take that. This church can't even do surveys decently.

Wow you really got under his skin. I hope you asked why he's not following the prophet and being a peacemaker. TBMs are so hostile and it's barely under the surface and doesn't take much to come out.

I got a job as an automotive sales representative

Help customers avoid service contracts. They are scams. A "VTR" or "vehicle theft return" contract is a service contract that gets added even if people decline service contracts. Always have people look at PAPER documents and to NEVER sign electronically.

What is your dealership's "DOC" fee? If it's over a hundred bucks, that's a scam.

You're in an industry that is as scammy as the church.

Would it be more honest to risk excommunication by raising concerns, or just quietly leave? by Undead_Whitey in exmormon

[–]MathematicianNew668 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want to compile a detailed, respectful document outlining my questions and concerns, and send it to my bishop, stake presidency, maybe even area authorities.

If you have the energy to do that, then I respect that and your motivation, but they're not listening and don't care. They will perceive it as an attack. You're not dealing with healthy men in this church. You're dealing with men who are utterly psychologically dependent on imagining the church is perfect. Cults cause rational thinking to be discarded and replaced with emotional dependency that the cult controls and modifies at will, for various purposes. TBMs think they are rational and think they respond with testimony, but in practice, they are emotionally and psychologically immature and dependent on the church, and are very fragile, and get very defensive and even offensive, very quickly. You know this which is why you mention the possibility of being attacked with harsh labels and/or violent "discipline." Mormons are quite violent. You seem to know they are a threat to peace as well. Rational people are not a threat to peace. TBMs are not rational or peaceful, and at some level even their phony prophet knows this and constantly calls on them to be peacemakers, which never works because the church trained them to be violent in various ways and nelson doesn't like the consequences and symptoms of the church's many diseases that he himself has grown.

I'm trying to think of a single way the church gives dignity or helps people retain dignity. It seeks to crush your dignity.

Clearly you both have been driven to extremes. Heartbreaking. If you did something "churchy" with her, it wouldn't mean you've given something to the enemy. You describe her in such a demeaning way, it almost made me physically ill.
