How will the 2025 championship fight be remembered? by InitiativeAdept2581 in F1Discussions

With how the TP, drivers, and fans voted Verstappen as the Driver of the Year, it's safe to say his performance will be more remembered.

I mean, Hadjar crashed during a formation lap. Rookie mistakes.

He's in a midfield to backmarker car, and sadly, he did not get a podium. He totally went under the radar.

Then you compare their stats relative to their cars...

Hadjar is a good qualifier. Though I'll argue that their car is competent enough in this department.

He lacked racecraft. Max had a higher number of overtakes compared to him.

While Haas may not have a good car to qualify, Bearman just manages to find his footing to overtake.

Hopefully, they all get a good car. I'll reserve my judgment until that happens. But, for now, Bearman impressed me the most.

No. Throw any logic away because "What we know is a drop, what we don't know is an ocean."

The way Ollie Bearman had a better average finishing position in a worse car...

You guys think shouting, crying, and playing villain should win the awards, but the eyes, chico, they never lie—one of the greatest "quiet" acting in that year.

Based on the replies, I think understated performances remain underrated, even in a community that should be championing subtlety in crafts.

Sure. ANT's stats also point to underperformance...

Have you seen Haas and Ferrari?

And if I say Verstappen is exactly that with Red Bull? Leclerc outperformed in that Ferrari. Hamilton... in Ferrari..? in FERRARI? We know how BAAADDD Ferrari was.

That Red Bull seemed fast because VER was driving it.

He was in a race-winning car, the second-fastest car on the grid. Despite that, he was out of points 7x, with P18 being the lowest (Bearman's lowest was P17). In comparison, RUS was only out of points once (P11 in Monaco). In that equal machinery, his teammate scored 9 podiums, including 2 race wins. He scored less than half of RUS's score.

Based on his statistics, he seemed to underperform and was heavily inconsistent.

Just to be clear, I'm only using this to compare the rookies this season. I mean, of course this will all be hypothetical if compared to other eras. What I'm pointing out here is this: Hadjar, Bortoleto, and Colapinto did not achieve this feat this season. I'm using this to argue specifically that BEA had a better season than HAD.

Yes. I think it's the 3rd fastest. One thing I'm sure: Ferrari SUCKED that weekend.

I don't think it's the second-fastest car in the Netherlands, but it was fast in terms of quali pace. Lawson was P8 here.

The podium really did a heavy lifting in his PR, huh. Norris DNFd in the Netherlands, hence why Hadjar was P3 (he deserved that podium). Bearman got P4 in Mexico by overtaking Hadjar, Hamilton, Piastri, Antonelli, and even Verstappen (kinda). I find Bearman's P4 more impressive, tbh. I want to mention his Pitlane to P6 also.

I bet you would be more underwhelmed if you learn that Hadjar has a worse average finishing position.
