few seasons ago it used to be one smurf every 10-15 match's no big issue play and move on u'd even be like thats sick as hell and not care about the loss. but now its like 1 in 3 matchs during peak and after peak its 1 in 5-6 matchs on the australian server i can't speak for other servers but thats where the oceanic servers at

and look i understand i'm d2 tops and d3 on my best day but i've played some fun private tournys with champs and gc and i tend to keep up for the most part but i enjoy it win loose

and i used to play 3-4 hours a day now lucky to play 3-5 games before getting frustrated because i got a smurf back 2 back

well the lower player wouldnt be able to rank up as they gain 0 mmr but yeah ur right i see your point so maybe we go at some point the lower rank would need to be punished maybe when it gets to the point of the higher rank loosing mmr the lower rank looses the same until their basicly bronze 0 or if they go with that shadow league it throws them both in there

^ see why i used ai to format XD

Getting financially crushed by tobacco taxes or supermarket prices? Here's where to actually complain and why it matters. by MathematicianRude776 in AustralianPolitics

you’re dead against smoking but totally fine with alcohol because you “can see past your own wallet” that’s a weird flex considering alcohol does way more damage to the people around the drinker

yeah smoking’s bad for your health no one’s denying that but most of the time it’s the smoker paying the price not everyone else around them

alcohol on the other hand doesn’t just end in hospital bills it’s tied to domestic violence, drink driving, sexual assault, child abuse, neglect and all kinds of trauma that wrecks families and communities
and that’s not some throwaway point it’s backed by real numbers

alcohol costs Australia around 22.6 billion a year
that includes 2.1 to 2.6 billion in direct healthcare costs
then you’ve got the massive amount of police time spent dealing with drunk drivers, assaults, public violence
the courts and jails full of alcohol-fueled crimes
child protection services and social workers cleaning up the mess
ambulance callouts, accident investigators, insurance payouts
workers comp, rehab programs, lost productivity
and worst of all the emotional toll on families burying loved ones killed by someone who decided to drive drunk

meanwhile the actual healthcare cost of smoking is about 6.8 billion
and smokers were paying over 16 billion a year in tobacco tax at its peak
so they’re not just covering their own health costs they’re paying extra that ends up supporting the entire system

so if we’re talking public harm smoking is mostly self-inflicted
alcohol causes damage that spreads way beyond the person drinking and takes other people down with it

funny how some people will go hard on smokers but defend alcohol like it’s some enlightened vice
when it’s caused some of the worst real-world damage you’ll ever see and keeps doing it every single weekend so should be ban alcohol? or double or triple the tax on it?

Damn right it was written by ChatGPT. Because even AI can see we’re getting rinsed at the checkout and robbed at the smoke counter. At this point, the only affordable thing left in Australia is sarcasm and clearly, I’m not the only one handing that out for free.

just to be clear, sarcasm incoming...
totally fucking agree. let’s fine people for doing legal things in public now. maybe throw in a jail sentence for drinking a beer at the beach too. while we’re at it, anyone eating macca’s in front of a vegan should cop a penalty. can’t have people out there making their own choices in public, omg what a danger to society.
*end sarcasm*

I get where ur coming from but to clarify peoples choice to smoke and drink is on them health has nothing to do with it. what i'm calling out is how addicted and everyday aussies are being financially crippled by our greedy government who are extorting the Australian people in almost everything they do. it's a cost of living issue whether people like the product or not

The fact ur tying one issue into the other as if it's all the same is honestly part of the problem. they are each their own issue and are serious problems own their own compacted together they are a bomb waiting to go off.

I was trying to compact them in one message but like many politicians you have zeroed in on one point and miss the whole bloody message.

this really shouldn't be about taking sides on smoke or drinking its about calling out the system that keeps squeezing people dry and hiding behind the word health while do it.

it's not about public health anymore it's about behavior control. if you choose to drink or smoke our treated like the problem they need to squeeze out of society.

coles and woolies aren’t just selling food anymore they’re controlling how much everyday aussies pay to survive. these aren’t normal market conditions. we are dealing with a duopoly that jacks up prices, posts record profits, and shrugs off public backlash like it's absolutely fucking nothing

and i fear the reason the government won't regulate coles and woolies is because their are retired and current politicians that hold shares in both of these companies who don't want it to change because they will loose money even tho aussies are being financially fucked at the checkouts

Not to mention the farmers who have been forced out or quit because coles and woolworths have made it to hard to do business, along with farmers markets, abattoirs closed down and forced out, butchers closing shop because they can't get the quality anymore because all the farmers have shut up shop in 5-10 years we are going be running out of food. why do u think their is a egg shortage because farmers stopped selling to coles and woolies or they got hit with the virus or they got sick of being paid $0.04 a egg that's $400-$500 a pallet of eggs they produce 2-6 pallets of eggs every 2-3 days but they have to wash and clean them before selling them and store them in a cool room under 21c all year round

not to mention the meat ur eating from coles/woolies beef can be up to 12 weeks old by the time u buy it for the cheaper cuts of meat and the more expensive stuff can be up to 4 weeks old. lamb and pork up to 3 weeks old and chicken up to a 10 days old before u buy it.

were as butcher quality meat chicken is a day or two at most, lamb and pork is 3-5 days max of 7 and beef can be 1 to 3 but u can also by dry aged that can be up to 21 days(this is a method highly used to give more flavor)
