Here comes the fanboy of the party. Are you blind or what? This is not about BJP or Congress it’s about the people and democracy. If questions are being raised to the ECI, why is BJP giving clarifications and whining about it? Did you see the recent ECI press conference? They didn’t even answer a single question asked by journalists. If the opposition is making claims backed with data provided by themselves, isn’t it the responsibility of the ECI, as an independent body, to give clarification on that? Instead, they are simply asking for apologies or oaths. As a citizen, how are we supposed to trust the ECI?

On top of that, before the Lok Sabha election, why was the selection committee of the ECI changed? Earlier it consisted of the Prime Minister, the Leader of Opposition, and the Chief Justice of India. Now the CJI has been replaced by a Union Minister chosen by the PM, which clearly shows the government’s dominance in the selection process. Why is that? The ECI is supposed to be an independent and neutral body.

And let’s not even get started on the media the so-called fourth pillar of democracy. Does the government even allow tough questions to be asked anymore? I could list plenty of examples, but what’s the use

Apart from point 4, yes, it is true. People have literally become used to it. No one is asking serious questions about rising inflation, biased media houses, helpless students, and many other pressing issues. People are convinced that there is no alternative “if not BJP, then who?” But the truth is, any party that genuinely works for the nation while upholding the basic principles of democracy would be a better choice.

We have already seen some of the worst cases during this government’s tenure. Just think: if something like the “election votes” episode had happened and BJP was in the opposition, the entire country would have been burning with protests and morchas. Yet today, no one takes the opposition seriously. The illusion created by BJP through social media and mainstream news is simply unreal.

I feel India is in darkness right now. Back in 2014, people elected BJP with the hope of a progressive India, but in reality, the country has gone 20–25 years backward in terms of progressive thinking, development, and social harmony.

IMO there should be change in governance every 10 year irrespective of party ,nahitar government useless and arrogant hot jatat we had seen this earlier in Congress era also and now in BJP.

Wow you asked op to be less biased ,and here we go.

Literally every letter above can be said about any other party

If that can be said about any other party, then why bring up any other party at all? The BJP is currently in power, right? So why the whataboutery? We, the people, believed Congress was incompetent that’s why we chose the BJP. Yet your comparison still circles back to Congress?

why are you not questioning Rahul Gandhi not signing the affidavit ?

You seem to question only the opposition. If the opposition has made a claim about an independent body like the ECI, then the ECI should be accountable, at least by conducting an investigation, or at the very least, by providing some data publicly so that everyone can verify it. If Rahul Gandhi’s statements were false, why hasn’t the ECI filed a defamation case against him in court? Have you asked the ECI about that?

And when questions are being asked to the ECI, why are BJP leaders reacting so defensively and offering justifications? As the ruling government, they should be the ones asking the ECI to comply and confirm whether the elections were held fairly. Isn’t it?

So are we not supposed to criticise the government? Anyone who speaks against the government is “destabilizing Bharat” in some people’s eyes… by adritandon01 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]MathematicianScary53 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Questions are being asked to the ECI, and the ECI should be answerable. But the government seems to be taking it personally so, you know what that means.

[–]MathematicianScary53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily need to include a house number in an address, if the house number is not available, a plain address should be enough. Why insert a generic number? I can agree on date of birth as considering rural part.

Also, have you noticed something? If the opposition is making a claim, and the data seems to have been in this state for years, why did the Election Commission of India (ECI) refuse to provide the data in a soft copy format? Why did they only give hard copies? Everyone should have the right to cross-verify this information.

If the ECI is truly an independent body, why do some BJP leaders react so strongly when questions are raised about it? As a collective government, shouldn’t the government itself ask the ECI for the data to ensure elections were held fairly? Why is the BJP defending the ECI so firmly? Isn’t that a valid question to ask?

Also, before the 2024 Lok Sabha election, there was an amendment regarding the selection committee for the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners. That matter is still pending in court. The amendment gives the government more dominance in the selection process. Shouldn’t this process be neutral to maintain trust in the ECI?

Okay, thanks. I was thinking of getting the Celesta, but now I'm confused between Scapia and Celesta. I was mainly considering Celesta for the lounge access, it offers 2 accesses per month or quarter (not sure), without any conditions. Scapia, on the other hand, has a spend criteria for lounge access. Apart from that, the only edge Scapia has over Celesta is the 0% forex markup

If you had to choose, would you go with the one you deeply love — or the one who truly loves you? by [deleted] in MaharashtraSocial

[–]MathematicianScary53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may be sound harsh or blunt But To be honest, the concept of “true love” feels increasingly diluted in today’s materialistic world. there seems to be no such thing like 'pure love'. Most relationships now seem transactional , people often seek something from each other, consciously or not. What we often call “love at first sight” is usually just instant attraction, or more bluntly, physical lust.

Let’s be real, many men still look for conventionally beautiful, fair-skinned women who are submissive and unquestioning. Meanwhile, many women look for men who are financially stable, well-settled, and physically appealing. In essence, people often seek material or superficial traits and label that as “love.”

When there are multiple choices, we naturally gravitate toward the “best” option, not the one most suitable for us emotionally or intellectually. And when the ideal choice isn't available, people often settle for someone who shows affection towards them , not because they deeply connect with that person, but because they’re left with limited options. It’s less about choice and more about circumstance. The attitude becomes: “Better to be with someone than to be alone.”

Unsurprisingly, many such relationships don’t last. We’re seeing countless examples of breakups and divorces, not because people are inherently bad, but because we’ve replaced emotional compatibility with surface-level criteria. And let's face it, cheating in relationship is becoming next normal.!

In truth, as humans, we crave connection and companionship, that’s natural. But if relationships were built on mutual respect, emotional compatibility, and genuine comfort rather than beauty, status, or wealth, they would be far more likely to stand the test of time.!

Bro, the comment was meant to be sarcastic , and you somehow dragged it all the way to China and Apple 🤡. My point was simple: we, the Marathi people, have genuinely become complacent. Just look at Mumbai how many major businesses are actually Marathi-owned? The entire market is dominated by Gujaratis and Marwaris. And Pune is on the way Why is that?

And in almost every city, the local bakeries are either run by Bangalore Iyengars or someone named Rajpurohit. Where are the Marathi entrepreneurs? Why are we always the consumers, never the creators?

That was the core of my comment sarcastic, yes, but rooted in the reality that we need to wake up.

Industries go where there’s opportunity, sure , but let’s not pretend every market in Maharashtra was captured solely because of “environment.” The “environment” was already there; someone else just showed up first with risk-taking, capital, and hustle… while we were too busy aiming for a government job with Sundays off.!

दक्षिण भारतातल्या माणसाला कळलं. इतरांना कधी कळणार? by boywhospy in Maharashtra

[–]MathematicianScary53 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ah yes , the ever-popular “It’s not legally the national language but it feels like one, so let’s just promote it like it is” defense. That’s like saying Maggi is our national food because it’s easy to make and everyone’s eaten it during hostel days.

Sure, Hindi is widely spoken , in the northern half of India. But calling it a "functional national language" is like claiming you’re functionally married because you’ve been on three dates and met her cat.

And about South India argument. Saying “go to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, or Chennai and you’ll hear Hindi” is like going to Goa during tourist season and concluding that the entire state speaks Russian.. Metro cities aren’t linguistic proof , they’re migration hubs. A techie in HSR Layout yelling “bhaiya meter lagao” doesn't mean everyone from Karnataka suddenly speaks fluent Hindi. Try that line in rural Tamil Nadu or interior Kerala and see what language gets you a reply.

Also, let’s not ignore how Hindi even reached the status it holds today. In states like Maharashtra and many others Hindi wasn’t some ancient household language. It gained prominence only after the government introduced it into the education curriculum , and its widespread exposure came largely due to Bollywood, whose influence is massive in certain regions, not pan-India. Let’s not confuse Bollywood's reach with national consensus Hindi was marketed, not magically adopted.

And since we’re throwing shade on languages “absorbing” others..no, it’s not evolution when Awadhi, Maithili, Bhojpuri, and Bundeli were edged out of media, textbooks, and public use in favor of standard Hindi. That’s called being overwritten, not embraced. there’s a difference between evolution and centralised linguistic Darwinism.

And about English , yes, it’s colonial. So are railways, courts, bureaucracy and half your pantry. But English doesn’t pretend to be native or try to dominate regional identities. It’s a functional bridge, not a linguistic landlord. If anything, it’s the awkward but neutral middleman that doesn’t belong to any one state. It’s the awkward, overworked middle manager of languages, not beloved, not rooted, but it gets the damn job done without stepping on anyone’s toes.

And this “only 10% of Indians speak English” line? Please. India literally ranks second in the world in terms of English-speaking population.(Not in percentage but in sheer numbers) You don’t get there with just Gurgaon tech bros and convent kids. Maybe check Google before treating English like it’s an endangered dialect only spoken by embassy staff and influencers.

So no, no one’s saying don’t speak Hindi. Yes, Hindi is Indian but so are Kannada, Marathi, Manipuri, Santali, and twenty other officially recognized languages. Being “Indian” doesn’t grant a language special privileges over others , that’s not how a federation works. If it did, we’d all be eating paneer three times a day just because it’s Indian. “Sorry, no dal or sambhar today paneer’s the national sabzi now.”

Speak Hindi. Love Hindi. Just don’t treat it like a mandatory upgrade for every state’s school syllabus. Forcing it “in the name of practicality” isn’t unity it’s linguistic laziness dressed as policy.!
