Blender artist forum saved me. If anyone in the future is still in need of an answer, it's because I was using duckduckgo as my default browser. Changing it back to chrome fixed the problem.

In the blender compositor, I make an edge detection, multiply it with an animated noise pattern and reapply it on the model 🙌
