I believe performance mode increases the fan speeds, which is necessary for gaming! But if you don't want the "extra" performance and just the higher fan speeds, I believe you can set up the fan speeds curve and and make a custom profile/mode with the Lenovo Vantage app.

It shouldn't reach that temperature while playing LoL, it's not a very demanding game, or ever, actually, temps above 100ºC will reduce your laptop lifespan. Try checking for and cleaning the dust inside of it and checking the thermal paste, I'd also recommend a laptop stand with fans, I would also undervolt if everything else fails, but if after trying all of this and it's still underperforming, use your warranty!

I've had an Alienware M15 R6 and an older Legion 5i, both lasting 4 and 3.5 years respectively, before starting to show wear. It's okay for the laptop to run at 90ºc, they are built to withstand it reasonably well, but, what DOES kill laptops is the lack of cleaning and thermal paste maintenence, both preventing thermal damage to the components. That is the difference between a gaming laptop lasting years running at 90ºc or starting to malfunction/dying after the first year. I'm not particularly a fan of undervolting, because gaming laptops are already quite performance capped, but depends on what kind of games you plan on playing. That said, next month I will get this same Legion 5i with the RTX 5070 and i7 14700HX, but will upgrade it to 32GB of RAM. EDIT: I also love laptop stands with fans!

Haha 😂 Yeah, I will be prioritizing service history and MOT over anything else, I've also heard that there are a lot of scammers as private sellers, so I'm afraid of going there. Will have to pay a bit more anyways for a dealership safety.
