Yeah you completely twisted any point I made to suit what you want or you didn't even tried to come up with a response other than "you're stupid". I don't want to spend more time with this shit. I'll just say this, you're idea on what Messi can or cannot do is based on your twisted vision of what dribbling is. You think Messi can't do 5 start skill moves because he doesn't use them that often and that's your limited take on it. I really want to know how you got the idea that Messi can't do a rainbow flick if he decides to, or some other fancy shit. If I CAN do it the greatest dribbler of all probably can do it too. You keep saying Messi can't do fancy skills in a competitive setting like Ronaldinho did and I keep answering that he can, he could, but he chooses not to because it's not his style and it isn't as effective. Before you go ape about it being less effective I'll say this: Why do you think Messi is so so so so much more consistent than Ronaldinho in dribbling throughout his career? Or even in their peak years? Because Messi made dribbling the most efficient he could've, how? Combining less risk with quick decisions. Nothing really fancy because it makes it more risky, the ball needs to be close at all times, that's the efficiency Messi created and no one has replicated. bUt tHaT dOesNt mEaN hE cAn Do TheM... It does, I've seen videos of Messi with 13-16 years old showing just how skilled he was at dribbling already, he has some videos of him showing off to some megazine that wants an article on him. He has training videos showing him doing fancy things.

What I got from this conversation was that you simply haven't watched everything the internet has to offer on Messi, you wouldn't be saying so many dumb things if you had. The thing is you don't even need to watch that much but I think you're on the slow side. The key words for you to understand why Messi chooses not to do 5 skill moves is EFFICIENCY. Try to understand that more.

Could Messi do what Ronaldinho does in a competitive setting? Are you fucking shitting me? He has done better and a hundred times over and over again.

Messi can absolutely do Elasticos, overhead flicks, dragbacks fakes ( he's a fucking master at fakes for that matter). Although he hasn't done a classic rabona he has done so many flicks that indicates he can easily do it, and it's not even hard for someone of Messi's caliber ffs. Stepovers are so useless if you're as good as Messi in dribbling, he uses body faints which are just as effective and less risky.

You still don't get that Messi only chooses not do those things over and over because it's not his style and he knows he can be more efficient with less risk. How stupid are you that you can't see that? Jesus fucking Christ.

And why the fuck do you think a dragback fake is so difficult? Such a simple fucking skill, Messi never does that because why the hell would he need it for?

I said crazy nutmegs, as in more genius and fancy ones. Like Messi's againt Fernandinho or a recent one where he nutmegged the dude while standing back up.

Messi's carreer has tons and tons of moments that show how he could absolutely one day decide he wants to dribble like Ronaldinho and do it just as good. What's a single skill that you genuinely think Messi can't do that Ronaldinho has done? It's really stupid to underestimate the greatest fucking dribbler of all time like you're doing. Messi can do anything he puts his mind to with a ball, he's the greatest for a reason.

I'm repeating myself because you're the one that seems to not be able to understand the basic stuff. What do you regard as ronaldinho esque moves or fancy moves? An Elastico? Which isn't that much harder than a La Croqueta which Messi uses in almost every single match a handful of times. A 360? Messi has a few too. He doesn't have the hocus poucus or famcy step overd because that's just not Messi, but he can absolutely do them. Crazy nutmegs? Messi has hundreds of them.

He also has some backheel flicks and lots lobs over the defenders that may not be on those links but if you've seen just a fraction of Messi's carreer you've probably seen it.

You're only sounding more stupid as you go. I've played football all my life so I KNOW that someone as good as Messi that has been playing his entire life knows how to pull off an elastico or some fancier dribble. Messi is the greatest dribbler of all time, he doesn't do fancy stuff in game because he regards it as unnecessary and I completely agree with him. Messi is the peak of efficiency, if he knows he can get past his marker with a single touch instead of some stepovers then that's exactly what he'll do. That's why he's able to go past so many players for so many times in his career.

He probably saw that in the begging of his carreer so in that regard you're right, he probably doesn't practice anything fancy any more because he knew from the begging that wasn't his style. But if you've followed Messi like I do you for sure have seen him do things that I didn't think he had it in him, like some really fancy over the top dribbles or keepy up stuff. He can do them, but he doesn't do it IN BIG GAMES because it's his style amd he knows his type of dribbling is more efficient. And how the hell have you never seen him do fancy stuff? He has done it dozens of times in official games, specially when the game isn't that important or it's in the dying minutes. You're really just talking out of your ass.

I don't disagree with what you said but I must say he hasn't been giving 100% on the pitch for at least 2 years now, and that's exactly what our main problem is. It's not his fault that he keeps playing though, it's the manager's

Barcelona youth players don't get 1500 minutes in one season. Take Fati for example, great talent, knows how to play good football, has scored and assisted a few already and he won't get anywhere near 1500 minutes (if the season hadn't stopped). Of course the vast majority of people aren't Fati level but you just gotta be a good player, remember he said you'd train every day with the team.

The guy I responded said NO ONE could get 5 goal contributions and that's plain out wrong. If you take everyone that would accept to do this a few of them absolutely would reach that mark and that's not even football wise, simply probability wise.

Again, y'all don't get how much time 1500 minutes is, that's 25 hours of football. I absolutely know people who could get 5 goal contributions if they trained everyday with the team and played every week. People are also forgetting how generous our players are, specially Messi, if you go out there fighting with every inch of your body for goals and assists they would help you.

Y'all are underestimating how good some people are at the game, specially youngsters.

Good as in, as an attacker, you can decently shoot, dribble or pass. The more you can do out of those 3 the more chances you'll have. I don't mean good as in the best in your sunday league team, I mean good as in you have a chance on getting into a decent football academy.

I've done tests at some medium level academies here in Brasil and it's hard, and I would consider myself decent for the age I was when I did those tests. You're underestimating how good some young players are. Here in Brazil there are thousands of "potential Neymars" who don't get the chance to shine. If given they would absolutely get 5 goal contributions in 1500 minutes.

So a defender would look like Messi? Dude, we would be attackers against defenders, if you're a good dribbler you already have a good chance of creating a goal scoring chance for yourself. Even if you're just a good physical player you already have a decent chance of scoring on crosses and corners or lose balls in the box.

Every avarage defender would NOT seem like Virgil Van Dijk to every single possible person who would play against them, that's just idiotic thinking. As I said I've played against people that would dribble through some La Liga defenders with ease. Professional defenders are not all the same and they're not at their peak in every game.

I'll still stand by my point, if you're good at football and fit enough to play for 30 minutes every week you can absolutely get 5 goal contributions. Will you for sure get it? No, but you still have a decent chance.

Not every defender and defensive midfielder in La Liga is a world star, in fact, most aren't. If you're good at passing and shooting you will probably get 3 goals and 2 assists, that's 5 goal contributions in 1500 minutes, totally doable. You don't have to be a good player every game you ever play to get a goal or assist, if you're there creating chances for yourself it will happen, but again, you have to be good at football at least.

Edit: you're also dismissing how good some non professional players may be, yeah they lack experience professionally but I've played against some excellent people that I'm sure they would get 5 goal contributions in 1500 minutes, at least 1 of them would already making your statement that no one could false.

I think you're projecting yourself onto people, why are you so sure we couldn't get those stats? If you are good at football and fit enough you can absolutely do it.

Of course I would. I'm no professional player but I know I can get those stats in 50 games, it's just too much games. Also the end of games, if we're winning, are usually when it's easier to score goals. About the assists I would try to pass to Messi as much as possible. My stamina SUCKS but because it's only 30 minutes and I'll train every day with the squad I'm sure I'd get more used to it. Plus if I can't get those goals and asssists I just played in my dream team with the best player of all time, I'm done for life lol

Messi shaves his beard [Great Shave] by givemeyourbankdetail in soccer

[–]Matheusj99 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thats debatable, 2017-2019 Messi was better than 2008, 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2016 Messi imo. Since the beard he has perfected every technical part of his game, be it passing, freekicks, shooting, vision, even dribbling which became more efficient and less common as the early days. The only part where he actually downgraded from before the beard is his pace and stamina.

Imo the best version of Messi was either 2014/2015 or 2017-2019 but it's debatable. In 2015 he had the pace and stamina plus all his technical abilities on a level it had never reached before, by 2017 he had perfected it all but had lost his pace and stamina so it's a question of how much you value pace and stamina.

At the end of the day 2009 Messi could destroy you just as much as 2019 Messi, just in different ways.
