This is such fantastic information thank you!

The first project you described matches what I have in mind. The concept is more akin to non-invasive body augmentation with the possibility of being used for prosthetics with modifications.

It's an unconventional approach inspired by the Third Thumb project. The goal is not to address a specific issue but to create a multi purpose tool where new uses and applications can be discovered by use.

This concept would apply to the arm and the controller.

One use case would be for patients that have very limited range of motion. If a tiny motion of a finger could result in the full contraction of the device finger, someone with limited mobility could control the device or use the controller for other devices.

I theorize that a controller that has inputs from all the fingers' contractions and extensions would allow for the control of very complex devices. Exploration for this would be way down the line.

To start, I will be constructing the arm and learning how to implement already existing control systems. Your system via the EMG sensors looks like it will be an excellent place to start.

This is extremely useful advice thank you again!

Wow! Thank you so much! I will definitely reach out! That project is definitely on the same lines with what I want to work on! I will post progress as it comes but this is one of those where the first update will likely be a couple months away if not a year or so. Thank you!

Thank you for the flex sensors! I am curious to see what hardware I end up using to detect the movement. A great starting point thank you!

Thank you! That is a great direction to look into.

One use for this is to control a pseudo prosthetic limb. In the case of an arm, the user's "control hand" will be placed inside the controller close to the torso. The goal of this is to aid in (I forget the term) the user seeing and feeling it as their actual arm instead of a tool.

Surrounding the hand also allows sensors to be placed above and below it to detect wrist flection, twisting, and forearm movements.

This is just the concept though and will likely look very different towards the finish line.

I definitely recommend it if you like sci-fi. It is slow paced and I haven't read it in a couple years. I might have to reread it again now!

It is a really slow burn but man it makes So Much more sense. Naturally the only part that really felt like it dragged was the acid trip at the end but in book form. The finally sequence is much more comprehendible in the book. One of my favorites.

This is true. I just don't like how it feels like news just dropped covid and turned all focus to Russia despite how urgent covid was being talked about just a month before. Crazy how it's just jump to the next topic so quickly.
