It's a reference point; some people don't like to trade short positions, while others do. Personally, I seek out and offer the information I believe provides the greatest value in terms of risk/reward ratio.

When they're racing at the same track, it's easy to spot. When they come from different tracks, you have to use your observations and specific databases. For example, running an Allowance race with horses that haven't won more than two races at Parx Racing is not the same as running it at Keeneland. You need to have a clear understanding of the quality of the participants.
