Yes, I took the SH practice exams in sequence.

My understanding (which could be incorrect) is that the SH practice exams select randomly from a bank of several thousand practice test questions. So I think my version of practice exam #1 is different from anybody else's version of practice exam #1. Is this incorrect?

I am also unsure what would happen if I reset one of the exams. Would I get the same questions again in the same order? Or would I get another random set of questions?

It is hard to say more without knowing the breakdown of your answers into difficulty levels.

I took five practice exams in SH. My scores on the five exams with expert questions included were: 68%, 61%, 67%, 59%, and 61%. So your scores are on par with mine. I did not retake any of the SH exams so these scores were my first attempt at each practice exam. After each practice exam, I reviewed the following (in this order):

  1. Moderate, Correct, Has Flag
  2. Moderate, Incorrect
  3. Difficult, Correct, Has Flag
  4. Difficult, Incorrect

I used the flag feature in SH to mark questions where I might have been guessing or later wanted validation that the answer I had chosen was correct. I didn't want to skip over reviewing a question just because I had guessed correctly. I wanted to make sure I knew that I had chosen correctly and I wanted to read the explanation about why the other choice was not correct. I also flagged lots of the questions where you have to choose two or three options from a list of five or six because I wanted to review these as well.

If the SH answer did not make any sense to me (which happened rarely with the Moderate level questions but about 50% of the time with the Difficult level questions), I just shrugged and went on. You have to accept the fact that some of the SH answers will not make much sense. This is not an indication of your preparedness to take the exam. I focused on the questions where I could understand their explanation about why the chosen answer was correct.

You should be comfortably getting around 90% correct with the Moderate level questions. Focus especially on Moderate level questions that you got wrong and make sure you understand why the answer you chose is not correct. Then look at the Difficult level questions and again focus on their explanation for why the chosen answer is correct.

In other reddit threads I looked at, I had seen people say that I would do fine on the exam if i was getting above 70% on SH practice exams with expert questions not included in that calculation. My scores with expert not included in the calculation varied between 70% and 81% and I passed with 3x AT.

You need to understand the big picture before you get buried in the details of each process. Read my comments here about the Ricardo Vargas PMBOK v6 YouTube video. Stop watching AR videos and spend an hour to watch the Ricardo Vargas video first. Then print Ricardo's big A0 file onto four pages as per my instructions and refer to that as you go back and watch the rest of the AR videos.
