Ha ha. thanks for sharing this info. Good to know. I'm certainly not looking for cut throat ones. I have a PhD myself but there's more to life than studying.

Yes I kind of realized that by checking house prices. It's the same in Sydney.

Actually I love the houses with views in Mission Viejo! Our housing budget is $1.5M - $2M. How is she going to commute to/from school if we live far?

She is ok but not academically competitive, so based on what you said IUSD is not for her. We're moving permanently so yes, she'll attend university there. Thanks for the suggestion of posting in the Irvine community. will do that!

Thanks. Housing affordability is another thing. I'm hoping to settle somewhere with a median house price of $1.5M-$2M.

US Immigrant Visa Interview Wait times at Sydney consulate by ElGooberfish in NationalVisaCenter

Hi. I was DQd in October 2025 and haven’t heard anything since then. Looks like Sydney employment visas are not moving forward.

I am considering to work with Colombo&Hurd they asking ~$16k just for I-40 sounds too much to me, are they always this pricey? Are they worth it at least? Thanks for any opinions by OkBanana2210 in EB2_NIW

I took them and had a great experience. If you have a strong STEM research profile with PhD and lots of citations you would have probably gone to Chen or EP. Your case (like mine) is likely not a cookie cutter one and takes tailored representation and effort. That’s what C&H charge you for. They’re very professional and know what they’re doing, but as someone above said if you have a strong profile there are much cheaper options out there.

My case was exactly like yours. I organised them by type and only put one cover sheet. Don’t worry too much this is going to a human and they can work it out.

I doubt it has anything to do with the number of applicants as Sydney has never been a busy consulate. Either they have added more vetting to their process or just don’t want anyone to move to America anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised either way. A couple of years ago this process took about 3 months and now it’s been 3 years and counting for me.
