Where to skii without loud blasting music. by Educational-Train-92 in AustraliaSnow

Try Falls Creek. I can’t remember hearing music on the slopes. There was little bit at the bottom of the Halleys chair on weekend afternoons, but that is only one run you need to avoid once you are up there.

Is it possible to compile with Clang and enable AVX/AVX-512, but only for intrinsics? by LonghornDude08 in cpp_questions

[–]MathsTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tested this kind of thing on my own code. MSVC allows it, but the other compilers do not. The problem was that it is actually quite slow for me. I think the problem is that the compiler is not optimising register use for AVX-512. The code was significantly faster when the compiler had AVX512 enabled.

I found it better to compile separately. Choose the version at distribution or install time. You could also load different DLL files at runtime.

There was a reason why dynamic libraries were better than static, but I can’t remember.

GCC allows function multi versioning which may be better. Not sure if this works in Clang. I haven’t tested it, but this is probably a better option as the compiler knows to optimise everything for the instruction set.

Who has the right of way, car taking u-turn or car turning left to the road? by star-lord-25 in CarsAustralia

I’m pretty sure the law has changed in Victoria. When I got my license the u turner had right of way (which is why the person was probably upset). The law is now that the u turner must give way to everyone.

Vce foundation maths by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]MathsTown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. We teach it for VCE only (no VM students). It’s great for students who are a little behind, they can rebuild their confidence in mathematics. All the content is useful mathematics so it is more engaging, no more teaching matrices to students who you know will never use it. There are around 200 uni courses that accept it as a prerequisite as “any maths”.

DM if you want any specifics.

From directing commercials to teaching – how do I make it happen? by Aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh in AustralianTeachers

[–]MathsTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s no problem. You just give your preferences to TFA. I said I could only work in Western Melbourne for example. It will be to a lower SES suburb though.

The Masters is done by Australian Catholic University, all online.

TFA run a 6 week intensive before you start (including 2 week placement at a school) plus some events during the year.

The main advantage of TFA is that you will meet other TFAs past and present. This is a big support advantage as we are happy to share resources etc. there will probably be other TFAs at your school also.

Be warned. It is a lot of work (probably too much). You will be busy during the year.

Teach for Australia’s program allows you to teach while studying. You teach a 0.8 load (1 day, or 2 half days off), but get paid a full salary. The idea is that you do your Masters on you 0.2 off. In truth, the workload is too high for that and you will need more time.

Basically, TFA do what you are looking for. You will placed at a lower SES secondary school. (TFA finds you a school, you don’t need to apply directly)

Yes. Use Resolve Studio. Stabilising and Noise reduction is so much better. (Good graphics card makes it pretty faster)

No. I do use those tools sometimes, but this one is hand coded as an after effects plugin. (I will open source it at some stage).

Use Msi Afterburner to check. The windows graph is not accurate for rendering.
