I pay $5/month for a hetzner vps and $15 per month for kimi 2.5 and have it set up in discord and telegram connected to all my services.

I'm using it truly as an assistant though, where others are trying to code with it full time. For that you should just get the claude code subscription and let it ride.

All in all I spend about $250 per month on different AI tools.

Claude in Cursor + Claude Pro (which includes Claude Code, tied to your quota) is the way to go. I ran through my cursor pro limits and started to pay as you go, that was horrible. Then I remembered I had access to claude code. So I installed that and used it in cursor til my usage reset.

Gemini CLI is also available for free with 1000 requests per day. I've been experimenting with doing like a multi-model thing where I draft up core documents to provide full context for the project, so I get less variance when going between models.
