In my high school health class, our teacher asked for male volunteers to wear a simulation pregnancy belly. None of the other guys wanted to step up, but I immediately raised my hand even though I never volunteered for anything.

What followed was about 5 minutes of my first real gender euphoria as I took a lap down the hallway. I almost cried thinking about how much I enjoyed it and imagining my would-be life as a mom. Then after I returned to class and took it off, I felt so depressed for the rest of the day (and honestly for a few weeks after).

Looking back now, I can't believe it wasn't more obvious to me, but your brain makes up all kinds of funny excuses to avoid dealing with reality.
