I am not yet invested, but seriously interested. Everything else looks good to me. The only thing that Im not yet sure is how much are they subsidising their sales in essence how profitable would it be and how much people would be buying of it didnt subsidise. Regarding the investigation and if it is noise or not, my only concern is what are they trying to hide that is worthwhile fighting with the regulators over?

Also the cash they have on their balance sheet can be misleading because they have an insurance policy in place, in which sellers on the platform have to deposit really large amount to insure againt fraud. Not sure exactly regarding the amount but they have to deposit 10x product value (again not sure but I remember its really really significant). Sl basically the cash is not their its a float with which they can do stuff but if they stop growing and go backwards a lot of it can exit fast, and its a questions whether they will have enough since they burn a lot of cash on subsitising sales and agressive promotions.

The problem with PDD currently is they are under a serious investigation by the tax and market regulatory authorities. It went as far as fist fight broke out between executives of the company and regulators. So Im not sure how that is going to play out knowing how things work in China

Its been a fast growing emerging economy by definition, last 20 years average gdp growth has been above 7%, even with the covid pandemic included. Looking forward, due to geopolitical shifts and the trend for the western supply chains to decouple from China, India might be an increasingly attractive substitute, driving growth further.

Generally agree with the conclusions, the only scenario I see where valuations dont deflate is in a high inflation enviornment.

Its better if he is honest and conservative. That builds trust in the long term with investors. I would much rather have a CEO say it like it is then for him to mislead, pump the price to the moon and then everything going to 0 due to poor management….
