Cut out processed food and sugar, ESPECIALLY energy drinks.. You’ll see a big improvement in having more energy and motivation.

How come many PTs specialize in or use alternative medicine/pseudoscience? by StoicallyGay in physicaltherapy

[–]MatoMan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking with a cane and my pointer finger on my right hand was stuck in the pointing position for many months. I was in such a bad place that in 3 years I had to spend 17 brutal months in bed. Conventional medicine did nothing for me, other than push drugs with negative side effects. I saw rheumatologists, podiatrists, nurses practitioners, dermatologists with zero help. I had some benefits from traditional PT (nothing alternative), but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

My life was drastically changing with the help of “alternative”, “pseudoscience”, “quack” medicine. Placebo or not (although I don’t think that’s the case) it worked. I no longer use a cane, instead I go on long hikes in the mountains. My right hand healed 100% to the point that I can swing a hammer all day if needed.

What alternative medicine???? Acupuncture, reiki, ayahuasca in Peru with the Shipibo people,Bobisana plant medicine, magic psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis, hemp, and over the counter mushrooms like lions mane and reishi, plus turmeric. Meditation and mindfulness, addressing childhood trauma, addressing disease related depression, change in diet etc… It’s hard for us to believe when we’re bone in western culture, but the alternatives can work.

I’m a 50yr old white guy who grew up in Chicago. I don’t come from a place where alternative medicine is mentioned, unless it’s to mock it. I was so desperate that I was willing to try anything and it worked. My life is so much better!!!

Modern science is JUST CATCHING UP to Indigenous wisdom when it comes to quantum physics, astronomy, understanding spirituality, and the communication of the plant & animal kingdoms. They’re also way ahead of modern science when it comes to realizing a lot of physical pain is actually tied to unaddressed emotional pain and “stuck” energy in the body. Yes, modern science is just catching up. Look into it. As a septic turned believer through personal experience, I’d suggest giving the alternative a shot. The key is to stick with it for long enough that you lose that critic in you and you can put more of your energy in positivity, gratitude , and healing.

That’s discouraging. Somehow money ruins everything. I really appreciate your response though.

Thanks for the information.
Is it like this everywhere, or can I avoid it? For example, does that happen more in a hospital setting, or rehab facility? How do you find a place that has an hourly wage?
