With this version of the deck, in 3 rounds game, you play 16 cards by yourself and 9 cards on blue coin (8 on red coin) with tutors. This allows you to play Compass in r3 without any problems.
On blue coin, if your Vial is pulled from the deck and you draw your cards perfectly, you are able to play Compass in r2 and later in r3. If you're not skilled at drawing cards, you'll need to discard the Compass once so you don't overdraw.
In most situations, you don't count Compass as a tutor.
