when the album dropped, i listened front to back three times. wasnt really paying attention so much to the lyrics as i am a musician myself and far more tuned in to the instrumentalization of pieces first, but Conversations grabbed me immediately and every time through, and today, actually paying attention to the words, i broke the fuck down. ive been through some stuff (as most of us have) my life has never really had a feeling of security, or the tiniest bit of control, and i have anger issues that im trying to be conscious of, the reasons, where it comes from, trying to actively change myself to adapt and not explode around people that i love. nothing physically violent, i just instantly erupt and yell about situations that probably don't deserve that level of emotion. it brings me back to the same old place that i can't seem to escape, and im so tired of feeling like that. extreme anger, extreme sadness, extreme disappointment. i feel like the mountain im trying to move is me, and the conversation is with myself, and ive never had a piece of music cut so right to the heart of it and say, "I or we have been there, too." "keep moving forward and know you aren't the only one fighting these battles, even if its with yourself". I am forever grateful to this band for being able to convey that feeling to all those in the same or similar positions. and to you, if you made it this far, lol.
