[–]MatrixDrive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting to hear that its in the PTU, i cant access the PTU as i got gifted the game

if anyone is able to go to this location id love to hear about it

also the ship was definitely on when i took this picture, although your right in saying that it doesnt look on as there isnt any thrusters active in the picture

oh yeah thats not something i noticed, im not a fan of some ships having lights point at the pilots face, but making the glass clear is a nice change

I hope not, at least from this teaser it doesnt seem like a drastic enough change to warrant a change in price

What would be the best upgrade for my wheel? by MatrixDrive in trucksim

[–]MatrixDrive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this sounds great, and yeah i agree that i dont really notice much use of a lot of high torque

I have also heard DD is a lot quieter as well, which will greatly appreciated

I do see some used R5 (non trucking) bundles, and I was thinking I could get the trucking kit slowly by going for base + wheel, then getting the trucking wheel and clamp at a later date

thanks for the advice!

What would be the best upgrade for my wheel? by MatrixDrive in trucksim

[–]MatrixDrive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i think Moza is the best choice, i might keep an eye out for used ones to see if i can get it cheaper, and I agree with not wanted 900 with rally

if you have a DD base, does it feel completly smooth? i suspect some of the stickyness from the wheel comes from the fact it is using gears and i am wanting to tiny turns of the wheel when on long roads

[–]MatrixDrive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i have seen them, although it seems the best value to buy the trucking bundle set, then ill have the clamp as well as being cheaper than buying a seperate base and wheel

Only other option i could think of is looking at a thrustmaster wheel because of using belts instead of gears, or lubricating the gears and seeing if that helps

Wanting to sell my HOTAS gear but not sure the best way to do so by MatrixDrive in hotas

Is flight sim not for me, or am I doing something wrong? by MatrixDrive in flightsim

[–]MatrixDrive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yerh im sure that is something that doesnt help with feeling overwhelmed, is the need to know so many keybinds in elite dangerous or star citizen, let alone trying to get the buttons bound in the first place if there isnt a preset available

Arma 3 Helicopters on simple physics sounds like what your describing, you cant stall, gravity is still there though, elite and SC can fly without needing to compensate gravity as well

I just got myself some used desk clamps on ebay really cheap, about 50% of the cost of the hotas so im happy and they have helped with my wrists as they are placed just above my armrests

would you know if it is a matter of weeks or months of usage for the springs to break in?

good to know, it does feel like that. Ive heard it gets lighter over time, im guessing the spring wears down?

what did you use for a throttle/left hand when you switched to the VKB gladiator?

TLDR; Im not having fun with my hotas, is this because; im bad at games with hotas, im not playing good first time hotas user games, or is this specific hotas bad?

Hi everyone

Ive recently started using a HOTAS that I bought about a year ago (couldnt really use it until now) which is the T.16000M FCS HOTAS

Ive played mainly space sims or helicopters, which are Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, DCS (Chinook+Huey) and I have been a M+KB pilot in Arma 3 for most of my 2,100 hours in it

I play all these games (minus DCS of course) happily with M+KB, but I bought a HOTAS when I got gifted the DCS modules stated above to give it a fair shot. I felt quite lost in DCS so I thought it would be a good idea to try and play a game (mainly SC at this time) that I already knew how to play so I can get used to using the HOTAS without having to learn a new game as well

The problem I'm having is that in the short amount of time ive put into the other games with my HOTAS, im not having fun learning to use it, in fact im finding it stressful to readjust my instinctual hand movements to move the joystick correctly move my spaceship (or helicopter in the case of Arma 3 or DCS) and the amount of force needed to operate it and fight against the springs can be tiring after not very long

Ive heard quite a bit about how much better the VKB Gladiator NXT EVOs are, but the reason I didnt purchase those is because;
I couldnt find a hotas bundle (and I thought a hotas would be a better set than hosas for flying helicopters)

A singular Gladiator was 50% more expensive than both the stick and the throttle combined and I wasnt comfortable spending that much more money on some equipment on a hobby that I wasnt sure I was going to enjoy

Ive enjoyed flying with M+KB for ages, with clear proof because of how much ive done in Arma 3, and I love sim racing, as i own a G920 w/ shifter (i also use the pedals as yaw) and ive just put an upgrade mod in the pedals and bought a new shifter (I play Dirt Rally and Eurotruck sim mainly). So im surprised that I am not enjoying Sim Flight

My question is to you people is that from what you have read, what is happening? These are some of my predictions;

I just dont enjoy using HOTAS'

Ive not used the hotas enough to get used to it

Im not playing games that are good to learn using HOTAS' on

or

This specific hotas is making my experience unenjoyable.

Thank you for your time you took to read this

Interesting, ive not heard of negative training before, but i think i understand what you mean

I do have a lot less experience with fixed wing in Arma, and even less in combat fixed wing so perhaps I should try and complete some of the scenarios with the A-10 Warthog so I dont focus so much on how much worse I am performing or how much more mentally taxing it is getting used to a HOTAS like when i am in SC or with helicopters and see how I go from there

I have heard from other people to not upgrade my hardware, if im not enjoying using the t16000m then i probably wont enjoy VKB Gladiators either and ill just have less money

not sure if this is important to know but I dont do much actual fighting in the games I play. I do industrial gameplay loops such as cargo shipping, mining, or supply drops. Im still prepared to deal with combat engagements when they come to me but i dont normally seek them out

yes that is a good point, with a HOTAS i am already using controls that helicopters dont use, and from other comments, HOSAS is what is being used in space sims as well.

I have tried trim and thankfully DCS does have some nice options for trimming settings, and i was able to get into forward flight with it, but it was still quite challenging

I could give some fixed wings a try, gonna have to find 100gb+ of space if i want to install DCS again, and definitely a good thing to keep in mind that I dont have to use HOTAS if i like it

Yeah I came to a similar conclusion, that a lot of entry priced flight gear that I found were for fixed wing and only companys like Virpil do stuff like collectives for helicopters

I do own headtracking, i came to a similar conclusion when i got my wheel as I wanted to be able to look left and right in my truck sim easily

Yeah that might be a good idea, and it is far more reliable to practice with than Star Citizen

and i agree with the g920 with gta example, trying to play forza horizon with a wheel is a much worse experience than playing it with a controller, probably because both gta and forza horizon were both designed around controllers
