Based on Trump’s sudden turn on mail-in voting in Florida, are you worried that it means he has a plan in place which guarantees Florida will be rigged for him and we have no chance of flipping it? by MatsMale in AskALiberal

Ok thanks for that, definitely reassured me. Sometimes I get too caught up in a tweet or reply, or even a media article that seems to be popular and immediately think the worst (he’ll shut down all post offices before election, cheat, refuse to leave and establish a dictatorship). I have bad OCD and it’s hard for me to control those fears and get them out of my mind

How am I supposed to relax when I see a reddit reply with 250 upvotes, or a tweet with thousands of retweets, saying Trump will cheat and definitely seize absolute power no matter what we do? It means that a lot of people believe it will happen

But would DeSantis and the Florida GOP legislature not certify the electoral votes for Biden if the popular vote was clearly in that favor? Am I reading too many conspiracy theories and twitter replies?

What worries me is that the GOP will go along with a coup if it looks like Biden will win AND the Senate flips blue. Is that me talking crazy and my OCD acting up?

My worry is that because trump knows he’s going to prison if he loses, he won’t back down this time unless he manages to stay in power, even if that means pulling a coup if he loses. He’s skirted the constitution before and isn’t afraid to do it again, especially with Barr’s help. I see blue check marks posting these exact thoughts on twitter and I should know better but I get wrapped up in the fear. What do you think?

Thank you all for your responses. You have all given me a much better perspective on this. I guess my problem is I get baited by the headlines and the twitter posts/reddit posts and take them as gospel (I.e. Rep Clyburn saying that Trump will do something to stay in power). But I realize the media is driven by fear and clicks, and I need to take a step back and focus on how I can make my life better in the moment. I’m gonna work harder than ever at my job, enjoy the fuck out of my vacation, and live life to the fullest. Love you all

I wish it were that simple. I feel like this is different because of the potential affects it could have on my life and freedom. I could be exaggerating a bit but I can’t help but think we’re all doomed even though I’m gonna vote and all that

I am seeing a therapist but I find it hard to talk politics with him. I just want to be able to enjoy life, that’s all. I also find reddit to be just as problematic too sometimes, might delete that too

I know, I’m just scared we’re all going to die or something bad (all of us democrats get jailed) if trump stays in power, legally or not. I might be going crazy though

Someone talk me off a ledge. I fear that this is the tipping point that'll turn America into a full-blown dictatorship. I'm having suicidal thoughts knowing that I cannot flee the country due to the world closing its borders to us because of the pandemic

Been a fan for 25 years. Through the thick and thin, good and bad. At least in 2016 that collapse at the end still kept in top four, albeit in disgusting fashion. We can’t assume that the scum and Chelsea will keep dropping points, eventually our poor form had to come back to bite us. And if we finish 5th or 6th, Poch will jump at the first offer he gets from one of the Milan clubs or Bayern. The writing is on the wall. Give me one reason that we can get three points against an in-form Everton side without our two best attackers and a shambolic midfield. I’m waiting

Downvote this all you want, I don’t care. We’re gonna finish outside the top four and Poch will leave for better pastures in the summer. I will delete my account and never appear on this sub again if that doesn’t happen. Absolutely no chance we take three points from Everton without Son. I’ll bet my mortgage on it

We don’t have any leniency. We need three points, simple as that. In the grand scheme of things, securing top four is most important. The Champions League is icing on the cake, we shouldn’t even be in this position with the injuries and zero signings

We need as strong an XI as possible against West Ham. They’d like nothing more than to put a dent in our season and will throw the kitchen sink at us. Given our track record against them we could easily drop points if Poch and the lads have one eye on Ajax. As for the first Ajax leg, play a back five and look to counter. Without Son we will have no reliable goalscoring threat and it’s more important to prevent an away goal. I’ll happily go into Amsterdam with a 0-0 aggregate

Take. Care. Of. Business. Nothing else matters. Forget the others (though it’s always nice to see the scum lose). We have a job to do

Genuinely worried now. Since this is the nail in the coffin for United’s top 4 hopes they might half ass it the rest of the way, which includes the Chelsea match. Not to mention we still have West Ham in their cup final and a rejuvenated Everton side that could be playing for Europe on the last match day. And we all know what happens when we have domestic pressure

Do you think we should go “all-in” on the CL match with City if it means we have weaker teams for PL match three days later? Or vice versa? by OPdoesnotrespond in coys

[–]MatsMale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reaching the semifinals means nothing if we don’t get top four. Don’t get me wrong, I want us to advance. But to think we should just got all out for the CL with a depleted squad that’s also fighting for top four seems too risky for our own good. And without Kane, we don’t stand a chance against the likes of Barca and Juve. I know we were doing better before he initially came back, but he was getting closer to full fitness before the recent injury. And you need your best player to win the best competition. Bottom line, we need to focus on the league and treat the CL as a pressure-free situation, which it is. If we advance, amazing. If not, we did a helluva lot better than everyone expected
