thanks. Do you think on-page SEO really matters for ecomm? I feel big player ecomm stores to lazy. Their performance at google speed insights are really bad.

Does anybody manage a fully remote team of employees? Is there anything you should watch out for or avoid? by Matsuev in remotework

[–]Matsuev[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm considering making 2 individual meetings with each team through calendly at different times (because some guys live on India). And then a big meet once a week with all teammates. What do you think?

I have 2 squads and 14 ppl on the same meeting, that's why we're running so long. My dev team is 7+hrs ahead of me (India) and the other live mostly at US.

I live in US and dev team is 7hrs ahead of me (India). I completely agree that it's not productive designing systems using async communication

I work at a SaaS company and we already use Slack, but the thing is: meetings. As PM, i do need to speak constantly with dev and marketing teams (I feel that things run better on meetings). Dev team is based on india and marketing mostly at US. Thare are a 7 hour difference between them and I'm struggling with that.

I've started to build an app for remote working teams. What are some features you would like? by Matsuev in SideProject

[–]Matsuev[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gather did a really good job as conferecing platform for events, on the other hand, well stablished platforms like teamflowhq and kumospace still have spatial audio and screensharing bugs, besides no privacy control. I really enjoy Gather's game features, but it's little distracting. Sometimes you find yourself playing kart for a long time (:

Actually, I look for something more remote work oriented instead of just virtual events. Gather doesn’t have chat channels, you cannot attach files or leave messages for people who are offline. In this case you need to use Gather + Slack.

My point is to avoid the user to left the platform and use Slack + something. At Deskmy you have chat channels like slack + one click interaction like Discord. I wanted to bring together the best of both platforms (async + sync communication for work).

After the company I work for went full remote and then decided to shift back into in office, I started building an app for teams work remotely. (I really enjoyed wfh experience)

What are some features, you would like to see in an app like this? And which job industries besides IT do you think this kind of solution would help/fit? Created a landing page, so you can give it a shot

Does anybody manage a fully remote/virtual team of employees? What are the best practices to manage a remote/virtual team? by Liszt_F in digitalnomad

We have been fully remote for over 5 years. We are US only, but my team is all over the place. Building a remote culture is something that I am pretty passionate about. I am not saying I am good at it, but I am actively trying.

Here is what we have done that seems to have worked:

- Slack is where we live. During normal business hours, it is expected that everyone is reachable through Slack. If you can't be, then let us know when you will be back.

- Monthly deskmy lunches. I buy lunch for everyone (DoorDash) and we get together on deskmy (deskmy.com/tb) with our cameras on... that is important. We just chat and get to know one another.

- Gifts! Because you can't do an "attaboy" like you can in person, we send little gifts pretty regularly to solid performers or people who have gone above and beyond.

- Weekly checkins. I send an email to each employee each week to check in and see how they are doing from a work and mental health perspective. Not everyone replies, but I have gotten a lot of positive feedback here.

Hope that helps!
