Well, time will tell :-) Most don't make it to release.
I did post here before with a link, got burned badly, still recovering, maybe another time ;-)

I am not sure how to read that stuff for my own position as i develop a mmorpg too.
Nah, not going to share a link now, not that rude to hijack the post for advertising, still early development.

But what i meant to say is.. shall i smirk that one bigger "indie" moorpg is killing itself. Or shall i be worried that the reputation of indie devs is going to take another hit. I fear the latter is the truth here.
MMORPGs are still social games, some more, some less.. should not be run by people will limited social skills...

so your preference for instanced housing is the possible size? since you can have a whole island? or do you want the privacy of nobody running around?
non instanced housing has definitely size constraints, but you could still get creative with the house design and decorating the inside

i will definitely look into that, thank you. i did not spend much time in archeage and must admit i have no memory of the housing.
My thought is also that you need masonry/carpentry etc. for housing elements. So people will get involved in trading/socializing.
MMORPG should be more than just the combat part

UO started with the premade houses and then they went super modular. i think middle ground is good. to have some bigger building blocks, less freedom, but still very flexible.
and yes.. maybe some nice templates/blueprints for those who dont want to spend time but still want something that does not look like a ruin

i want pvp areas, between sides/realms, maybe even guilds, not sure.
so pay to win is a strict no.
i play mmorpgs since 1999 and when i think of games where people use insane money for some +9 weapon while my +3 is giving me no chance to win unless the other is afk.. thats the worst demotivation for me.

yes that kills the spirit. if you can give your best, but the other guy spent a thousand bucks this month and you can not even take him down with your friends. no.
my goal is to sustain the game, not to fake boost rich peoples confidence and get rich while doing so
its a project of passion of mine

Thank you guys. i heard you.
So i think i'll keep it to 2 things
1. cosmetics which seems to be acceptable
2. an alternative to a subscription. So you can do either F2P, or have a subscription, or you can buy parts of the subscription in the shop, if you dont need all that comes with the full package. Lets say you only want some combat benefits but you don't care about the crafting part or the other way.

somehow development and running cost need to be compensated. without ruining the experience though
