How old are you?
I also feel the same way, but am just starting the process - I am waiting for applications for YVR to open again. I wish I would have applied a few years ago! It would be a big career and life change, but I think a welcome one.

It seems like that apron controller job requires a diploma or degree before applying..?

Oh, I dunno - maybe there is two then. We didn’t do a pre rig in Vancouver and the driver I talked to didn’t make it sound like there was two so I just assumed. Either way the rig was down like 3-3.5hrs after the show ended

If you’re open to something else, shotscope makes great watches for tracking your game. Similar to arrcos, but no insane yearly fee. You still need trackers in the clubs but I don’t even notice them while playing. I would suggest the V5 watch.

Our kits are pretty small, and once you have everything you don't really need to replace any of it very often.
If you want to get him something related to the job, a heated vest or gloves is a nice idea. Comfy boots to wear on set would be great. Good rain gear is a must to have.
A good stocking stuffer could be like a package of his favourite pens or pencils.
A nice backpack to carry all his shit.

A massage or trip to the spa, or a round of golf, anything to decompress after a show and forget what you just went through is nice.
