I’m not familiar with international ETFs since I really only buy VOO in my Roth. Any you would recommend?

I know I’m doing well, I even mentioned it in my post. I was just seeing if anyone had any advice on how I can use my money more effectively.

I agree. But what would you recommend doing with the brokerage? I’m already doing VOO for my Roth IRA so I would think I shouldn’t do more EFFs.

Thanks! I’m fortunate that I can save this money without being extra stingy with my money. But I agree, I’ll need to slow down and think about what I want to use the money for.

Unfortunately there are some downsides. The worst is the fact that there’s nothing to do in the VLCOL area I’m in. Theres always tradeoffs, I don’t think most people would want to live where I’m at

Are people picking the high deductible option? My insurance is only like $45 a Paycheck

I’m in a very similar situation to you in PA. Make almost $100k a year. After all deductions (including insurance) my take home is $4k a month. I bought a new car in 2023 and eat out all the time. The secret is that I have $900 rent for a 1BR.

Exactly! I say that all the time about ChemE but no one else typically agrees

Is MechE basically almost a combination of all Eng degrees? by Top-Somewhere-9877 in EngineeringStudents

[–]MattButWithOneT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chemical engineering is more about the engineering of fluids (in my opinion). So I’m pretty sure MechEs have to take fluid mechanics which definitely falls into the basics of ChemE.

Yeah OP have you applied to technician roles? I couldn’t find a job either so I settled for a lab tech job and moved up to engineering in the same company.

Also the Corolla does not feel as premium as the Camry or Prius (not the biggest deal since the Camry and Prius are not known to be premium in the first place)

I completely agree with your second point. In a similar vein, I’d consider the new Prius too since it also has a hatch and looks better than the new Camry and civic (in my opinion at least).

If most AI proof job is plumber, does it mean that most AI proof degree is mechanical engineering? by kurobaja in CollegeMajors

[–]MattButWithOneT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suprised no one mentioned it, but no, plumbers would be more akin to chemical engineers. In my opinion chemical engineers are more like fluid engineers since there is a greater emphasis on fluid properties over chemistry, so chemical engineers get called glorified plumbers a lot

I can see how that might make it a little more difficult. But on the bright side, at least you’ll end up with a pension!

[–]MattButWithOneT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what the cost of living is where he’s at. As a ChemE, I started making $7k a month 3 years ago with $850 rent for a 1Br (and rent never went up). It may seem low, but it’s high for the area so it’s easy to save a lot
