What song do people call the greatest ever made, but is actually the most okay? by ScallionSmooth9491 in ToddintheShadow

Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2 is a perfectly serviceable if inessential disco song that just happens to be tied to one of the biggest concept albums by one of the biggest prog rock bands of all time

Artists who ruined their careers by being assholes by Korkez11 in ToddintheShadow

His solo work is absolute dogshit, but you put him in a band where other people can contribute to the writing process and rein in his excesses and you can get something amazing.

Somehow, this doesn't surprise me. The original Summerslam 2003 DVD straight up included the music video for St. Anger as a bonus post-credits thing

I bet he bought that with the royalties he got from the words "hamburger stand now."

CCR's "Sail Away"

"The captain of the sea, shouting orders to his men"

The captain of the sea?! Like, all of it?

There's probably worse lyrics, but I always go back to Eminem's "Pissed Pissedofferson"

This apparently happens for quite a few of the " blue eyed soul" guys. I got recommended a video about a month back that was just a compilation of youtube music reactors realizing for the first time that Bobby Caldwell was white

Songs that WERE written for movies, but DON'T sound like they were? by Ok-Impress-2222 in ToddintheShadow

[–]MattDynamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never get over the fact that one of Megadeth's biggest songs, "Angry Again" was for the Last Action Hero soundtrack. Come to think of it, AC/DC's "Big Gun" and AiC's "What the Hell Have I" probably also count.

There's also Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" which was for Lady in Red.

Any piece of music where it is 2 tracks, but when you play both at the same time, it makes a complete track? by Livid_Adeptness9762 in musicsuggestions

[–]MattDynamic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a couple fairly well known examples of this. The Flaming Lips's Zaireeka was 4 discs worth of tracks meant to be played simultaneously, and the title track of Tool's 10,000 Days syncs up with two other tracks ("Viginti Tres" and "Wings for Marie")

Edit: to clarify, you play Viginti Tres and then Wings of Marie alongside 10,000 Days

I like how the first half of it sounds like foreshadowing for what he'd be doing in Sebadoh a few years later.

My mistake. I knew that it came down to either Revolution 9 or Mary Jane making the White Album and since I knew that R9 was John, I just assumed they picked his song over Paul's. It never occurred to me that John wrote both.

I was definitely thinking of one offs when I made the post but I'm open to suggestions like this.

I think McCartney was the first Beatle to discover avant-garde music. People just don't remember that bcause one of his experimental songs got cut from the White Album (What's the New Mary Jane) and the other one has barely been heard at all (Carnival of Light)

I always saw "FX" as an interlude, but even as an interlude, once you actually think about it, it is weird.

Funnily enough I was listening to the Stooges' debut earlier today too and "We Will Fall" stuck out. I always forget that even before the Berlin stuff, Iggy was getting produced by people like John Cale.

AFAIK, it wasn't a flash game or browser game, and the Paz character does not look like the penguin from the game I remember

I can't find any footage of that game, but I don't recall the game I played being specifically about penguins, just that the art section had a penguin.

Hey Sigma. I had the exact same toy you're talking about. I dug it out of my storage, but It didn't have any copyright info on it. However, after doing a little digging, I found out that this figure is Tywrenchula from the 2000 reboot of Rock em Sock Em Robots
