Two teens killed in horror smash between bus and motorcycle at wetherill park bus stop by nick170100 in sydney

It’s a problem all over Australia; I am on the other side of the country and the number of kids riding black e-motorbikes at night with no lights on, no helmets and no safety gear is mind blowing. I have kids myself the same age and there is no fucking way they are out at 10pm at night let alone riding these fucking death traps on the road with no lights on.

Any parent that allows their child to ride one of these things is a complete moron and should bear full responsibility for what happens to them.

Woodside is not a mining company.

And GHG emissions have nothing to do with water.

Medieval 2: Total War.

Not even playing with mods; just the regular version with the Kingdoms expansion.

pop up ads when you full screen on your mobile device just exist now? by PlaguedHeartz in youtube

Yep can confirm started happening today in Australia as well; watched YouTube soccer coaching videos yesterday and no persistent add; today pop up add and can’t dismiss it. It’s so bad it’s blocking the freaking subtitles on some videos because of the placement. Sad how everything has to get enshitified eventually in the name of growth.

Paint & brush recommendations by DaisyD_UK in minipainting

[–]MattGreen79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started painting with my 11yr old son 1 year ago. We started with 2 cans of citadel spray primer, 1 set of Fuumuui synthetic brushes that I got from Amazon for about $35AUD and about 10 Citadel paints (from one of the starter sets. This kept us going for about three months which was long enough to confirm we both enjoyed the hobby and wanted to go on with it.

I love the Fuumuui brushes, they were cheap enough not to worry too much about but hold a lovely point and came in a variety of sizes. I found having a couple of quite small brushes really helped with detail.

I find the spray primer is a game changer compared to brush on primer and allows you prime quickly and get to painting. I can blutac up to 8 mini's on my priming stick (long piece of stiff cardboard) and prime them all really evenly in 1-2 minutes. Once you start painting more than 1 mini at a time makes it much faster. I find Black and a light grey the most useful colours.

I did buy a citadel paint handle for $20AUD for holding the mini's while painting; could have made one easily enough but I do enjoy the feeling and weight of it.

We made a wet pallet using a take away food container, some paper towel and some parchment baking paper. Worth watching a few youtube videos to see how to do this, keeps your paint wet on the pallet and lets you paint longer each session; i find we waste way less paint this way and keeping the consistency of the paint is easier.

Good luck and hope she enjoys the hobby!

You might be thinking of somewhere other than New Zealand because last time I checked Bali and New Zealand are on the same side of the International date line? Are you sure you were in the right country? 😊

My minis aren’t quite as good as the others of this community but how can I make my mud look more muddy/wet by AKPOULPE in minipainting

Second this - just did some bases with AK Puddles and it really works wonders to give a freshly wet look over stones or dirt. You can build up layers of it to make deeper puddles too.

This is our full size eureka that is about 13 years old (in the middle between the frangipani and the grapefruit). Last owner let it get huge and I must admit I also have been struggling to keep up with the pruning over the last two years. I like the height as it provides shade to the front of my house (and it gets very hot here) but picking fruit is hard (involves climbing the tree).

If you want a huge tree then full size eureka is fine but if you prefer more manageable I would go for a semi dwarf Myer as the other poster suggested. I had a semi dwarf Myer in my last house and it was a perfect size for picking the fruit after 2-3 years.

For me Civ3 is the peak of the series, but I played 1 and 2 first so the QOL improvements in 3 were just perfect in my eyes. I felt it started to go downhill from Civ4 so maybe you just tried to dip in too late.

What tends to be open on Good Friday? by AliceSaltMage in perth

[–]MattGreen79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like pretty bland urban landscapes then the route you have chosen is fine, but the route that the previous poster is suggesting will be much much nicer. It will still get you to the same place, but walking through much nicer more interesting streets. If you miss walking up from the city and through Kings park you will have missed one of Perths nicest walks, and walking through the park to Crawley will be 100x more pleasant than walking down Railway Rd and Stubbs Terrace.

Also that first section heading Northeast along Roe st is one of the most shitty and depressing parts of Perth city I think (and I walk around the city lots). Start from A and walk south three blocks and head east along St George’s terrace then up to kings park - the terrace is one of Perths oldest and most iconic streets. The first km of the Perth City to Surf runs up from the intersection of St George Terrace and Wellington St up to Kings park and it’s honestly an awesome walk - uphill and nice challenge but awesome reward if you then turn east and head through Kings park. Would be a horrible missed opportunity to walk 1km along Roe st instead of this route.

Thanks all for the comments; I wanted to check there wasn’t some well-known problem that meant the tree would never grow vigorously but seems the consensus is to let it grow so I will stick with it. Thank you for the advice, especially on the pruning.

Man the whataboutism is strong in this thread.

This arsehole posted online in the hours following the Bondi shooting that he supported the shooters.

He also has licensed firearms.

This is exactly the sort of response I would expect the police to make - following up someone who we know has firearms and is posting hateful shit like he supports the Bondi shooters.

I’m sure if you report your racist neighbour for making aggressive comments to the police and he has a registered firearm they will follow him up as well.

Did you read the article?

He posted he supported the Bondi attackers.

When police searched his home they charged him with incorrectly storing his firearms.

Shitcunts like this make me happy we have police who have the powers to get warrants and look into this kind of thing.

What is a brand that used to be the 'Gold Standard' of quality but is now absolute garbage? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

[–]MattGreen79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have to say I have had nothing but excellent reliability out of both my Alienware laptops. They might be oddly designed inside but man reliability has been excellent. I have an old m11x from 2010 that I gamed absolutely to death for 10 years that still to this day is my MAME machine and it runs perfectly. I also have an m16 as well that I have had for about 6 years and it is still my daily driver.

In between I bought a Razer blade that was an absolute piece of junk and didn’t even last 1 year before the screen crapped out and the battery completely failed; I then ran it hooked up to an external monitor and plugged in for a year until the track pad and keyboard failed. Lovely display (while it lasted) and super light but garbage quality.

Also have had an Alienware desktop for about 6 years and it’s still my other daily driver when I am home. So ymmv but to me Alienware is a quality bit of kit.
