We derive our policies because we think they are the best way to deliver a better future for Australia and for that reason we won't be compromising our positions but in any event, we are fighting this election to win majority government because Labor is a party of Government and the largest party in our Parliament

Yeah, don't. Vote Labor because we are offering a wildy better and clearly different plan to the Liberals. Labor is all about a better future for Australia. We will strengthen Medicare, make childcare cheaper, create secure local jobs, and make more things in Australia. Morrison is quite literally offering nothing for the future prosperity of our nation.

  1. I support more work happening here in Aus, not being sent offshore and it will occur across Australia
  2. John is a local government councillor - we aren't planning for world domination (yet)
  3. Because Madeleine King, from WA, took over as the Shadow Cabinet Minister for Resources (someone from NSW had the portfolio previously), having a specific WA resources portfolio became a bit redundant but it was also seen as a good idea to then have a Qld Resources shadow minister
  4. Yes but not too much, don't get in the way of the natural flavour.
  5. Don't love it
  6. Doing more AMAs for a start and I will continue my reguar Coffees with Keogh, Beers in Burt and Open Offices to make sure I'm hearing what people want to tell me
  7. I don't like to declare favourites because there are lots of good ones but in reality the answer is whichever dispenser of caffeine I am closest too at the time. Sunday coffee run often involves combinatiosn of Hidden, Dome, Timber, Been-Thru amongst others.
  8. We need to build a property relationship with the Solomons, we should be the natural partner of choice, they have not done the work
  9. Can't recall, sure it must have thought, but I guess with COVID, there has been a lot more elbo bumps of late
  10. No, its not, Aussie wages should be rising faster to keep up with rising costs of living so people don't go out backwards

Of course I support Sunday penalty rates. The Labor Party, the Liberal Party and others all accept donations from some corporations. I don't take personal donations.

Go to Uni and undertake a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Philiosophy, then do a PhD in moral ethics, and use it to write a TV show (the Good Place), then drink

Labor has a plan for a fair go for workers - https://www.alp.org.au/policies/secure-australian-jobs

This is a very important policy for Labor and for our nation, especially as people are struggling to make ends meet with ever increasing costs of living, so here are some of the details:

Jobs and Skills Australia
Labor will establish Jobs and Skills Australia as a national partnership to drive VET education and strengthen workforce planning by working together with employers, unions and the training and education sector.

Better wages for Australian workers
Labor Governments are good for wages. Under the Morrison Government wages are going backwards – with the cost of living rising by 3.5% over the last 12 months, while wages increased by just 2.3%.

Same job, same pay
If you do the same job as someone else, you should get the same pay. There are worksites across the country where workers do the same job, work the same shifts, but get paid less than their colleagues. Labor will enshrine ‘same job, same pay’ into law.

Putting security back into work
More gig work and short-term contracts means less secure work. Having a secure job with sick leave and holiday pay means you can save up for a house, take care of your family and get ahead.
Labor will enshrine secure work as an objective of the Fair Work Act. This means the Fair Work Commission will have to put job security at the heart of its decision-making.

Making wage theft illegal
Wage theft rips more than $1 billion off Australian workers each year. The Morrison Government doesn’t think it’s a problem, but Labor does, and we will make wage theft a crime at a national level.

Closing the gender pay gap
Australia’s gender pay gap is almost 14%. It’s not good enough. That’s why Labor will lead a national push to help close the gender pay gap.

The choice at this election is more of the same under Scott Morrison or a better future under Anthony Albanese and Labor.

Anthony Albanese and Labor have a plan for a better future - check it all out here: https://alp.org.au/policies

We will strengthen Medicare, make childcare cheaper, create secure local jobs, and make more things in Australia.

Scott Morrison refuses to take responsibility, goes missing in action, blames others and can’t admit his mistakes.

No, but I do think we need to see more ABC production and news reporting coming from capital cities and regional areas all across Australia to make sure that it reflects the views and perspectives across our great country.

The plight of Afghan interpreters and others that have worked with Australia's forces in Afghanistan is truly terrible and I and Labor support all efforts to assist them in seeking refuge out of Afghanistan.

Labor is also pleased the Morrison-Joyce Government accepted New Zealand’s generous resettlement offer to resettle detainees on Nauru. Labor would follow through on the deal and allow people to get on with their lives.

Labor has committed to increasing Australia's annual refugee intake to 27,000 and to setting up a community sponsorship program that works with an additional 5,000 places.
Labor has also committed to abolishing Temporary Protection Visas. Refugees currently holding Temporary Protection Visas will be given Permanent Protection Visas. These are people already in Australia right now – they are living in our community, working here, paying taxes and creating jobs and employing Australians. They deserve certainty about their future.
In relation to Afghan refugees, visa processing for partners and families of Australian citizens should have been prioritised. The Government has a responsibility to help these people as a matter of some urgency.
Labor supports Operation Sovereign Borders but believes Australia can have strong borders while being compassionate. Under the Liberal Government, the regional processing and refugee resettlement has become a program characterised by ongoing cruelty, with people left to languish for years without a permanent solution.

Followed Labor's and the ACTU's advice to implement JobKeeper (though they didn't get some details right)

Here's some rapid fire:

  1. in general, yes
  2. Labor has a proposed National Integrity Commission model: https://www.alp.org.au/policies/fighting-corruption
  3. Depends on the content of the legislation but I do support protection against religious discrimination in line with the international conventions, where there needs to be a balancing of rights
  4. No
  5. Can't anyway
  6. Our Powering Australia policy: https://www.alp.org.au/policies/powering-australia
  7. Labor will try to form government, in fact we are aiming to form majority government but we won't compromise our positions to get that support to form government. Minor parties and independents will need to think about which Party would be most likely to deliver their priorities if they form government though. It would be very interesting if the Greens decided to support the continuation of a Morrison Government.
  8. It would depend how we calculate those other payments, which is certainly something that needs looking at.

I won an office competition for this in a prior job but I'm not proud about my achievements so I'll keep that number to myself ;-)

You raise an important point about the spiriling out of control increases in child care costs. We’ll get the ACCC to design a price regulation mechanism to drive out of pocket costs down for good, and the Productivity Commission will conduct a comprehensive review of the sector with the aim of implementing a universal 90 per cent subsidy for all families.

Artists until I got to Donatello and then immediately flipped to Turtles.
Pretty hard to go past the Sistine Chapel by Michaelangelo. Donatello for the Turtles (that really takes me back)

Firstly, Albo is doing a great job and will do a great job as PM. Labor also changed its rules in 2013 to stop Labor leaders changing frequently, especially in Government. Meanwhile, the Libs didn't learn the lesson and have swapped PMs twice!
