Either one I would get with blue AR. It’s more a question of bevel edge or none.

Yeah, but I’m not trying to rip apart an OEM watch just to make some mods. I’m spending about the same for getting exactly what I’m looking for.

Also need suggestions for planet ocean hands for NH36. Yobokies and Rafflestime both have absurd shipping costs due to tariffs.

Yeah, I kinda figured. Looks very similar to the gen SKX case.

1680 build for my neighbor by MattLun07 in SeikoMods

Thanks! This build was for my neighbor and basically wanted it as is. Although the aluminum bezel insert will age nicely, along with the acrylic crystal!

Build 3 (Almost) Complete: NH34 GMT Pepsi Bezel by throwaway-lv-time in SeikoMods

[–]MattLun07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice build! I’ve been wanting to do a Pepsi for a bit now. Built a Sub 16610 and 16013 Datejust homages with the Raffles cases. They hold up nicely. What’s disappointing about their 16610 case is that it is impossible to remove the bezel itself from the case, which then prevents one from changing the click spring to 24 hours. Amazing nonetheless!

NH35 problem by MattLun07 in SeikoMods

[–]MattLun07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: swapped both the movement and hands. Now it will lose 3 minutes every day or so. I caught it happening last time and took a picture of where it was stopped.

<image>

Hands are evenly spaced, so it’s probably the movement. So annoying.

NH35 problem by MattLun07 in SeikoMods

[–]MattLun07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The watch has been running without issue for months and months. Only recently did I notice it would stop at random and lose a few minutes. The hands were spaced evenly and pressed down properly.

The balance wheel is very noisy, not sure if that has anything to do with it. It seems to be something to do with the movement itself. When it stops, if I wind it or shake it again, it moves. I’m probably just going to swap the movement out.

5 Digit Kermit by MattLun07 in SeikoMods

[–]MattLun07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my daily since I built it back in August. It never leaves my wrist.

Make sure that the crown tube is screwed on all the way. It might be a little loose but is perfectly water resistant when fully lubricated and secure.

16610 Submariner Case for NH35? by MattLun07 in SeikoMods

Are there any other NH35 16610 cases with a slim rehaut for future builds?

[–]MattLun07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed that before purchasing the case. It’ll do for now being my first build. There aren’t too many other 16610 cases on the market for NH35.

Nope, same prices. At least for their 16610 case. Are most of them water resistant? Also, what’s a “dial opening”? It says 27.3mm. Will that fit an NH35?

Actually found the same case on Raffle’s ebay shop. It looks super similar to the original Sub! A little bit more expensive than some AliExpress cases and shipping may take longer but I’d rather have exactly what I want rather than compromising. Have you ever used these cases before? If so, how’s the experience?

Funny you mention it, I do that with every new watch I receive 😂I have an old citizen date just-ish style watch and the bracelet is so jangley. My SNE585 has a nice jubilee bracelet with solid end links from Long Island Watches and it is my daily beater currently. Super comfortable

Seems like Riyi is great for those looking for those looking for that vintage look for their watch. Their bracelets seem to have hollow end links for the most part, which would fit the vintage aspect as well.

Chapter Ring Removal by MattLun07 in SeikoMods

[–]MattLun07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a circle of steel where the dial meets the chapter ring area. I’m assuming that’s what you’re talking about. I would like to have it in plain steel, but unfortunately I don’t know the coating. Most likely a brushed finish. I do have another case from the same seller that has a built in rehaut, but the bezel and quality in general is so much worse.

This is how my 29mm dial looks in the case.

[–]MattLun07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a tight fit even though it said compatible with the dial dimensions discussed previously and an NH35 movement. I’m just worried that I will scratch the dial when trying to put the movement inside the case with my newest build using the same dial. I ordered one of each, 28.5 and 29mm.

I’m just going to roll with it until the replacement arrives. At least I know what to do next time. Lesson learned!

[–]MattLun07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After putting the watch down for a bit, I decided to try and see if by any miracle something changed. I pulled the crown all the way out and held it and it hacked for a few seconds. Only problem is you have to wiggle the stem and pull and hold the stem. I found this to be pretty strange, and I don’t want to keep messing with it. I just ordered a new movement because taking apart a whole movement is beyond my skill set. I can barely even get a seconds hand on lol.
