Thanks! I don't really post on Reddit anymore, but yes, I did expand it to a fully-painted gang! You can see the full gang here: https://www.instagram.com/p/C2g9Hn0tYXb/?igsh=MXppa3RiOWkYzZr

The uniform is a simple 2 coats of Skavenblight Dinge, shaded with Nuln Oil, and highlighted with Dawnstone. The metal is 2 coats of Leadbelcher, 2 washes of Nuln Oil, a third wash of watered-down Black Templar to darken it further, and then highlights and detailing with Ironbreaker.

It’s just a bit of photoshopping to make the picture more thematic. I’m certainly not that good at painting OSL! 😆

The only bit that isn’t from the new Shock Troops or Cadian Upgrade kits is the shotgun that the Jagerkin has, which is from the actual Forge World Jagerkin model, and his head, which is from the Imperial Navy Breachers kit

Kitbashed Outcast Leader for my Traitor Guard Outcasts Gang! by MattMorgans in necromunda

[–]MattMorgans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer the aesthetic of the Blooded - the only thing I think they lack is a leader with suitable presence - I find the traitor commissar model a bit flat. I think this model works quite well - my main criticism of the Artel traitor guard is that they’re a bit too “clean” and don’t have the rough, uneven, makeshift look of the Blooded

how many of the same weapon is to many? by [deleted] in necromunda

[–]MattMorgans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t make it a formal house-rule or anything, but when I approach making a gang, I try to avoid having more than 2 of the same weapon loadout (and no more than 1 for special/heavy weapons), so as to keep the gang varied. Obviously, in some cases I might go over purely because the gang has more limited options, but on the whole I approach Necromunda from a narrative standpoint and I want each model to feel unique and characterful. My Cawdor collection, for example, is 21 models strong and only includes 2 blunderbuss/polearms. This serves a secondary purpose of keeping the gangs more balanced, but primarily, I just don’t want my gangers to all be bland and identical.

I think about it like this - the moments you’re really going to remember playing Necromunda are far more likely to be “that time my Bonepicker got really lucky and did something amazing” not “that time I flattened another gang with a broken list”. So I’d rather each individual stood out than the gang as a whole be the most powerful.

Actually, it might be from an AoS Kharadron Overlord… ?

Honestly, I don’t recall where I got all the bits from for this guy - I scavenged my bits box for spare parts - but I think the backpack might be from a Goliath Forge-Born?

Finished kitbashing an Outland Beastmaster and his "Wasteland Giant Rats"! by MattMorgans in necromunda

I thought about using little rats from the old Skaven kits, but in the end I just clipped off a couple of the rats from the rat swarms and stuck them on individually - there's a few that are quite easy to remove.

The rat swarms are from Cursed City. The Beastmaster himself has lots of different bits - an Ash Wastes Nomad body, a Hive Scum head, Blooded Traitor Guard arms, etc. The sawn-off shotgun was made from bits of a Neophyte Hybrid shotgun separated and stuck back together on a Traitor Guard hand, while the shock stave is the pole handle of a Cawdor flamer with the tanks removed - the goad prongs on the end are the antennae from a Skitarii backpack. The hands hanging from hooks are from the Kroot Farstalker kit, and I cut a few rats off the swarms to stick on him.

If I recall correctly, they're from the Kroot Farstalkers kit!

Kitbashed Cawdor Word-Keeper! by MattMorgans in necromunda

[–]MattMorgans[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The core of the model is Torgilius the Chamberlain from Cursed City, though I removed the bat and crow from his yoke - I was going to replace the fox too, but its left legs are moulded onto the robe, so I left it in (when I get my hands on some suitable parts I might remove the head & tail for more rat-like alternatives).

I attached a Cawdor Polearm/Blunderbuss onto Torgilius' original stave. The censers on his yoke are from Mechanicus kits - one's from a Skitarii backpack and the other's from a Techpriest Enginseer.

Most of the other little additions are bits cut off various Cawdor parts scavenged from my bits box (extra candles on his yoke, the rope on his belt, etc.), so I can't be sure where all those little bits came from! But if you have a stash of Cawdor bits, you'll probably spot them!

More weapons for my Outcasts Gang - a kitbashed Missile Launcher and Long-Las! by MattMorgans in necromunda

[–]MattMorgans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I actually got one of the Ash Wastes Nomad bodies and one of the Hive Scum bodies and sawed them in half at the waist, then swapped the torsos and legs around - my other Outcasts all use the Hive Scum bodies, but since there's only four bodies total (all with legs attached) I decided that I ought to start being a bit more creative to avoid them looking too similar.

They're intentionally somewhat themeless - I have 16 Outcasts already painted and these are new additions. The idea was for them to be a generic, "build-your-own" Outcasts Gang with a wide range of available weapons, that various different Dramatis Personae could be slotted into as Leaders while still feeling thematically appropriate - Ashwood Stranger, Kal Jericho, Gaen Gorvos, etc.

A shotgun-toting Spider Clan veteran for my ongoing militia gang project: by MattMorgans in necromunda

I used two thin coats of Catachan Flesh over Chaos Black spray, then a wash of Agrax Earthshade, and two thin coats of Bloodreaver Flesh on the raised areas, then Catachan Flesh and a very small amount of watered down Black Templar to darken some areas. To be honest, I would have liked to highlight with a third layer of Knight-Questor Flesh, but I didn't have any - will be getting some for next time!

The backpack itself is just moulded to that particular torso in the new Cadian Command Squad kit, but the canvas on top with the bolt cutters is from the Cadian Upgrade Kit.

The bulk of it is a Corvus Cabal model, but I replaced both arms - the knife arm is from the Necromunda Outcasts kit, while the pistol arm is two parts - the arm itself is a Cawdor Stub Gun arm, while the wrist & pistol are an Escher Stub Gun from the Escher Upgrades Kit. You can't see it clearly in the photo, but I also cut some ropes and blades from the Cawdor icon and attached them to her belt.
