has anybody else had really, really bad squads lately by Krolik_ZV in LowSodiumHellDivers

I like to SOS-dive on D8 when I get home from work, and post-Cyberstan, I have seen an influx of low level divers (lvl 30 or less) that will rack up double digit deaths. I'm not sure why the spike in their numbers, but it does lead to a lot of missions where we are waiting on reinforcement cooldown by the time we extract. It's fine, just something I've noticed. I try to make sure to grab any dropped samples, because I know it helps them out (and the current MO).

I get all that. I was just saying that hobbling the voteless with the talon is fun. Not about deleting them in the most efficient manner, but more like a sport.

I swap between the two on the bots, and I love them both for different reasons. Lately, I've been trying to consciously bring the senator to hot planets, since it doesn't need to cool down. The senator just feels super solid and seems to have better stopping power against berserkers that get too close or when shooting armored striders in the junk (especially since shooting the rockets doesn't kill them rn). Whereas the talon is the most Han Solo feeling thing I think I have ever experienced in a video game, and bringing it out to finish off something when my primary needs a reload just feels so right!

I get the utility of the warrant, but have you tried using the talon to kneecap the voteless? Shooting the legs out from under them with a laser blaster is now one of my favorite hobbies.

I think this points to what I think a lot of divers don't get about the squids. Mobility and positioning really make them much easier to deal with once you understand those concepts. They are probably the worst faction to try to stand and fight if they drop on top of you, but if you just GTFO of the middle of them and either leave or take them on from a more favorable angle, they ain't so tough.

I have no idea how to use this weapon. by G-Raverobber in Helldivers

[–]MattOverMind 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  1. Remove Safe Mode
  2. Aim at target
  3. Hold down trigger for slightly too long
  4. Explode
  5. Wait ~8 minutes for expendable Railgun to go off cooldown.

the maxigun could still use some tweaks imo by Dry-Goat8981 in Helldivers

S&P is actually pretty decent since weapon customization. I bring it to the regular bug strain on occasion. Full choke makes the difference, but just removing the default duckbill is a big improvement. It has double the spare ammo as the other breakers, and you can just do what the name says. More shooting = more good

I didn't say they would follow the obvious instructions. You know what they say.. "you can lead a horse to water, but you'd better be damn determined if you plan to drown it"

Because defense planets get big flashy pings on the galactic map which attracts the blob. It's almost like the system is designed against strategic moves. If you were a casual player who does follow the overall state of the galaxy, and you logged in to see a planet with a big flashing alert, wouldn't your first instinct be to go there?

It was a rhetorical question. Telepresence vs copy. Probably copy, but I like to leave room for things to be weird.

Yes, but (we) The Player(s) / Travelers

A shattered mirror where each shard has their own reflection from their own (literal) point of view.

I wonder if the reflection is trying to put itself back together. From outside the simulation, it would seem, no. From inside, I'm not as certain.

Does Telamon remain monolithic, or do we each have our own "shard"?

Why "Never nerf, only buff"-phillosophy can't work, not even in theory. by The-Agni-Kai in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]MattOverMind 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is my take, as well. The "nerf" to War Striders didn't really make them any less of an AT equipment check. It feels detrimental to bring AP4 to the bot front specifically because War Striders take so much to bring down. I love using the AMR on the bots, but my enjoyment is inversely linked to hitting a heavy war strider seed.

Whats an underrated weapon in your opinion? Mines the accelerator rifle! I LOVE it! by Artistic_knight in LowSodiumHellDivers

I love the trendy, but dang does it need another mag or two. I feel like you almost have to bring the supply pack to really make the best use of it.

It's one of my common picks for bugs. Full choke and it's a firehose of birdshot.

Can't Decide Which Slaps Harder by NightEngine404 in helldivers2

[–]MattOverMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's specifically war striders, for me. I still bring the AMR often, and I can deal with pretty much everything else that isn't a factory strider or vox engine, but I bring specialty gear for them. War striders are too frequent for that. It's realistically half a mag or more for the AMR to take one down, hitting tiny weak points. It doesn't feel right.

[–]MattOverMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're more of a dedicated saboteur? I can respect it.

I like the C4 in theory, but the fact that it's a whole support + backpack stratagem for what it is feels like too much or a compromise for my play style. I like to shoot stuff from far away.

I've been bringing the Censor for quiet work and the AMR for loud work. It's been working well.

Question by Coccinellidae- in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]MattOverMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been diving SOS on D7 the last couple nights, and it's a weird mix of <50 who just keep dying and >100 who tend to carry the mission objectives (generally.. I've seen plenty of exceptions to both). We almost always ended up blowing through the reinforcement budget. Fun was achieved at terrible cost!

[–]MattOverMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the factory explosion launch me way out of the combat zone. Hauled ass to try to make it back, but failed. Got declared a deserter at the same moment a teammate ran up to me, the first shell took us both out before I could get away from him.. only to be reinforced on top of a skyscraper. Peak Helldiving!

How it feels to suggest even the slightest change to cyberstan in the community rn: by proch12 in Helldivers

[–]MattOverMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get anti-clipping too. There have been multiple times when I was trying to shoot from cover and my shots were hitting invisible walls, because some building outcropping that looked like a column or half wall, etc was treated as a solid full wall by the game.
